"The husband became Dharmendra of Sholay movie."
A man recreated an infamous Sholay scene when he climbed an electric tower and threatened to die by suicide if his wife was not sent home with him.
The man had come to Ganiyari village in Chattisgarh to pick his wife up, but his father-in-law refused to send her back with him.
30-year-old Horilal Pardi climbed the 36.5-meter-tall electric tower and threatened to jump if his wife was not sent along with him.
The resident of Raipur travelled to Ganiyari to pick his wife up from her maternal home.
When Pardi reached his in-laws’ house, they refused to send their daughter with him.
After his pleas did not convince his in-laws, he stormed out and began climbing the electric tower.
People spotted him climbing and called the police, who tried to convince Pardi to come down from the tower for hours.
Pardi refused to climb down the tower and claimed that if his wife was not sent home with him, he would take his own life.
The police informed the father-in-law about the situation and he then agreed to send his daughter home with him.
After Pardi’s father-in-law assured him, he finally climbed down the tower.
People recorded the incident and posted the video of the man on the electric tower on social media.
One user shared the video and wrote: “When the in-laws didn’t send his wife with him, the husband became Dharmendra of Sholay movie and climbed on the high-tension tower.”
The police reported that the man used to fight with his wife after drinking alcohol, so she left him and came to her maternal home.
Due to this, her parents refused to send her home with her husband. Following this, the man climbed the high-tension electric tower and threatened to take his life.

This is not the first time that the scene from Sholay has been recreated.
In November 2017, a man from Telangana climbed a tower but for a different reason.
He did this to demand a divorce from his wife. He threatened of jumping from the electric tower if his wife did not agree with his demand.
The video of this event was shared on YouTube by the news Agency ANI. According to india.com, the man was identified as Dr Ajay Kumar.
His wife had filed a harassment case against him, but she later withdrew it. He claimed that this was the reason he had demanded a divorce. The police tried to convince him to come down for hours.
He then came down after his wife agreed to sign the divorce papers.
In a similar incident, a drunk man climbed an electric tower in the Jalna district of Maharashtra seeking that his wife would return from her maternal home.
The incident took place in Dabhadi village, Badnapur tehsil in July 2022.
After four hours, the intoxicated man came down from the tower and villagers, the police, and the fire brigade assured him that they would strive to solve the dispute.
