Seven people have been arrested after CCTV footage captured them brutally beating a 20-year-old Indian man and shaving his head.

The shocking incident happened in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

The young man had been accused of stealing an iPhone from the home of film producer and Telugu Bigg Boss contestant Nutan Naidu.

The victim was identified as Parri Srikanth. He worked for Naidu as a housekeeper.

The attack happened when Naidu’s wife Madhu Priya discovered that her husband’s phone was missing. She and the house staff were suspicious of Parri, especially because he had quit his job in early August 2020.

They called him to the house on August 27, 2020, and he denied any wrongdoing.

Parri was called to the house again the next day. However, this time, he was detained and subjected to a five-hour ordeal.

Madhu and five staff members took turns to beat the young man with sticks while the others filmed the incident on their phones.

Madhu then called a barber named Ravi to the house where he shaved Parri’s head.

Police Commissioner Manish Kumar Sinha said: “While three are seen beating him, the others became part of the crime by threatening him, encouraging them to beat and take selfies or videos.”

He said of the footage: “The visuals show how badly he was beaten with sticks and rods. He was tonsured despite pleading against it.”

Following the ordeal, the attackers let the Indian man go. They threatened to file a false case against him if he told anyone what had happened.

Parri ended up informing the police and a case under the Indian Penal Code was registered against the seven accused.

Police looked at the CCTV footage and were shocked by what they saw.

The seven suspects have since been arrested, including Madhu and the barber.

Commissioner Sinha said:

“We will produce them before the magistrate after Covid-19 tests and seek custody for further interrogation.”

Although Naidu was not seen in the footage, police are continuing to investigate whether he had a role in the attack or not.

Parri was originally from Srikakulam. After studying up to Class 10, he moved away in the hope of earning enough money to give his grandmother and sister a better life.

In May 2020, he got a job as a housekeeping assistant at Naidu’s house but quit on August 1.

He told officers: “I dreamt of giving a better life to my younger sister and grandmother. But, my life is ruined like this.”
