Indian Magistrate marries Woman who he ‘Sexually Exploited’

An Indian magistrate has married a woman shortly after she had accused him of sexually exploiting her.

The two were married on October 11, 2019, at a registry office in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh where the magistrate Dinesh Kumar resides.

The wedding happened soon after her allegations of sexual exploitation against him circulated on social media.

Kumar, who is a Hapur Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), had originally worked in Khadda but had just been transferred to Hapur.

The woman had confronted Kumar in Khadda when we went to collect his belongings.

She alleged that he had falsely promised to marry her after getting into a relationship with him four years ago.

Since then, she has been staying at his house and he allegedly sexually exploited her during that time.

According to the woman, she has done everything he requested.

She also alleged that during that time, the Indian magistrate had forced her to undergo two abortion procedures.

Reportedly, after the woman explained what had happened, senior officials told him to marry her. Kumar initially refused which led to an argument between the two.

The matter led to District Magistrate Anil Kumar Singh intervening and an attempt was made to resolve the matter by convincing him to do so.

Kumar later changed his mind and the registry office was opened at 8 pm.

After sorting everything out at the registry office, Kumar and the woman went to a temple in Padrauna at around midnight where they were officially married.

SDM Ramkesh Yadav and SDM Pramod Kumar Tiwari witnessed the marriage.

DM Singh explained: “Dinesh Kumar came to take his belongings from Hapur. A woman claimed that Dinesh Kumar promised to marry her.

“He was living with her for four years. But nobody did not know about their relationship.

“He wanted to marry but decided to postpone after fighting with her. Today, Dinesh agreed to marry the woman.”

ADM Vidhyavasini Rai added:

“The woman accused SDM Dinesh Kumar of sexual exploitation.”

“However, he agreed to tie the knot following the intervention of senior officials.

“They got married at a temple in the presence of Sadar SDM Ramkesh Yadav and Hata SDM Pramod Tiwari.”

Despite the marriage, the woman’s accusations have not gone unnoticed.

While some senior officials have avoided speaking about the matter, DM Singh has ordered an investigation into the allegations of sexual exploitation.
