"I’ll work 12 hours per day and 7 days a week"

An Indian graduate came under fire for offering to work without a salary in a desperate bid to stay in the UK.

In a controversial LinkedIn post, the unnamed woman revealed that her graduate visa was set to expire in three months.

The woman, who graduated from the University of Leicester, said she had been searching for a job but was unsuccessful.

After more than 300 applications, she still had not found a job.

The woman wrote: “Since graduating in 2022, I’ve been tirelessly looking for a visa-sponsored UK job.

“The job market feels like there’s no value for me, my degree, or my capabilities… I have applied to 300+ jobs and got a handful of useful feedback.

“This LinkedIn post is my FINAL chance to secure a long-term future in the UK.”

Searching for design engineer roles, her post read:

“Hire me for free for one month. If I don’t deliver, fire me on the spot, no questions asked.”

The Indian graduate also said she was willing to work long hours and without days off.

She added: “I’ll work 12 hours per day and 7 days a week to prove my worth.”

Her post was shared on Reddit and many slammed the woman for going to “ridiculous” lengths to avoid returning to India.

Others took issue with her offer to work for free, saying it would create unrealistic expectations for employers and could lead to a toxic work environment.

Her offer might also push more deserving candidates out of jobs.

One Reddit user wrote: “12 such candidates for 12 months and the company’s golden.

“Zero salary given and free labour. These folks don’t realise the level of harm these kinds of posts do.”

Another said: “Seems like people have lost all their self-respect for real.”

A comment read: “It’s sad to see how Indians beg for work to stay abroad.”

Criticising the graduate, one said:

“What a loser!! People like her have no talent and self-respect.”

The woman also faced racist comments, with one person writing:

“Parasite. Will do whatever it takes to stay in the UK.”

One person even wondered if the student’s post was genuine, revealing they had found several similar posts.

The posts featured the statement that the students’ visas would expire soon, a list of their skills and an offer to work for free to “prove” themselves.
