"Nickie, your presence will be dearly missed"
Pakistani fashion designer Aliya Nazir has passed away at the age of 47.
Nicknamed Nickie and one-half of the fashion duo Nickie Nina, her sudden death has sent shockwaves across the Pakistani showbiz industry.
Her death was announced by editor and publisher Raheel Rao.
Sharing a picture of Aliya, he wrote:
“I woke up this morning to the heartbreaking news of the passing of my dear old friend, Nickie Nazir.
“Nickie was not only warm and gracious but also an extraordinary friend to have.
“The memories we shared together are invaluable, and the void left by their absence will be deeply felt.
“Nickie, your presence will be dearly missed, and the impact you made on our lives will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, dear friend.”
Upon hearing the news, stars posted tributes to Aliya.
Former model Frieha Altaf wrote:
“The heart breaks. The heart aches. Dear Nickie, may you rest in peace.”
She shared pictures from their trips to Chitral, Mastuj and Shandur, adding:
“Remembering your fear of heights as you braved the roads up to the Hindukush. Sending love to your family, this is too tragic.”
Anoushey Ashraf said: “Rest in peace beautiful Nickie.
“Today, I choose to celebrate your short but wholesome life. You lived so much more than so many.
“Forever in our hearts. Smiling, humorous and beautiful. To Allah, we belong and to Him we shall return. Wrapped in His eternal love and endless bounty, you’re home.”
Sajal Aly wrote: “Shocking and heartbreaking news. Rest in peace.”
Model Mushk Kaleem posted: “Oh no! This is so incredibly sad!
“We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.”
Other stars such as Sami Khan, Zhalay Sarhadi and Areeba Habib also posted messages of condolence.
Aliya Nazir was very well known and recognised for her exclusive couture designs.
She is thought to be amongst the very first female designers who have paved the way for countless female designers in the country.
Nickie Nina is a notable fashion house and is appreciated for its ethereal couture pieces and inventive creations.
A collaboration between Aliya and Nabila Junaid (Nina), the duo built a prestigious brand that gained international recognition.
The untimely demise of Aliya Nazir left a remarkable void in the world of fashion. Her artistic expertise and cutting-edge spirit will be profoundly missed by everyone who had the honour of working with her.
