"They treat us with a lot of respect and love now."

Faryal Mehmood was the latest guest on Momin Saqib’s Hadh Kar Di, in which she spoke of her career in the Pakistani drama industry.

Before inviting her on stage, Momin was full of praise for Faryal and called her one of the finest actresses in the television industry.

Faryal revealed that when the pair worked together in Be Adab they fought a lot but then became very good friends.

It was revealed that Faryal had advised Momin to become a TV host as she felt he had the qualities to become a successful host.

During the interview, Momin asked Faryal why she left America to move to Pakistan even though she was settled there.

Faryal answered: “I felt like I wanted to act in Urdu, that was the reason. My Urdu wasn’t great, I couldn’t read it either.

“My mum used to act, my khala [mum’s sister] used to act, my entire family had a lot of actors, and I felt I wanted to do the same.”

“My mum was an actor, but she was basically a singer. I was raised to be an actor.”

The show turned to a Q&A segment, where the audience was given the opportunity to ask the guest questions.

One member of the audience asked Faryal to describe her time working with Momin on set, to which she said Momin is the same on and off the set.

She replied: “He is the same on and off set, he has so much energy, I’ve never seen anything like it. He’s such a genuine person, he is as he is.”

Faryal shed light on the #MeToo movement and said that inappropriate male behaviour is more of a global issue rather than a local one.

She said that she had noticed a change in Pakistani actors since the movement had been introduced.

The #MeToo movement is an awareness campaign against sexual abuse and harassment.

Faryal commented: “Since the #MeToo movement, I’ve seen a lot of change in male actors. They treat us with a lot of respect and love now.

“It’s almost like it was never a problem. We live in a very manipulative society.”

Speaking of her childhood, Faryal admitted that she was an angry child.
