To be honest enough I never started my Instagram page with an aim.

It was primarily started to showcase my love for food and sharing culinary experiences with others. In these growing social media times when everyone is covering outside food, I wanted to show how home food which our mothers’ have been making since forever can be shown in a different way.

I’m thankful to all my followers that I have gained by majorly showing home food. On one side, it gives me goosebumps to achieve this feat in such a short span of time. On the other side, it’s my ode to my mother for all the lovely food.

What is your favourite dish to make?

My all-time favourite dish to prepare is Spaghetti Aglio Olio. It is my comfort food and my expertise too.

When and why did you make the decision to become a vegetarian?

It was not a decision. My family is vegetarian, so I am also a vegetarian.

I have never liked the smell or sight of non-veg food.

A vegetarian lifestyle is healthier and is good for cardiovascular health.

And as George Bernard Shaw quoted – “I choose not to make a graveyard of my body for the rotting corpse of dead animals.”

Your Instagram feed is a mixture of both sweet and savoury dishes – but which do you prefer?

I am a chocolate person totally.

Rather I would say a dark chocolate person.

But I love spicy food. Green chillies and red chillies are my all-time favourite.

While growing up what were the dishes your parents used to make that inspired you to start experimenting with your own recipes?

My mother used to make chocolate cake, so I made a lot of experiments with her recipe.

I love to bake brownies, cookies, fudge and cakes.

Who are your culinary inspirations?

My mom, My Bua and Chef Sanjeev Kapoor. I attribute my passion for food because of these three people. Knowing the importance of each and every ingredient is essential and how to correctly use it in recipes.

What dish is your ultimate comfort food?

Rajma Chawal and Spaghetti Aglio Olio.

What is your favourite thing about living in Delhi?

I love the food culture of Delhi. Be it

Be it golgappa, momos or chaat. Delhi can make your taste buds drool for sure.

Because you are a doctor do you think this makes you watch what you eat more? As you know the effects of what certain foods can have on the body?

Well, certainly yes.

I do indulge in oily cheesy food on weekends especially but I make sure to keep my weekdays healthy.

I also exercise daily to keep myself healthy and fit. It’s all about portion size. I taste everything, I just don’t overeat. Everything needs to be balanced out.

What advice would you give to someone who wanted to begin experimenting with their own dishes and cooking?

Just keep on trying and excel in one dish first. Especially when baking, do make sure that you use proper measurements. Being a baker, I learnt from my own mistakes.
