"People say we did this for fame."
Punjab’s ‘Kulhad Pizza’ couple have finally addressed allegations that they deliberately leaked their explicit video for publicity.
Based in Jalandhar, the young couple rose to fame in 2022 after a video of them selling pizzas went viral.
However, Sehaj Arora and Gurpreet Kaur were embroiled in a scandal in September 2023 when a video purportedly of them having sex was leaked.
The explicit clip circulated online shortly after they welcomed their first child together.
At the time, they claimed the video was “morphed” and was the result of an extortion bid.
Detailing the ordeal, Sehaj said: “You may have come across a video of us. It is completely fake.
“The reason behind its circulation is that 15 days ago, we got a message on Instagram about an extortion bid along with the video.
“The miscreant claimed they would make a video viral if the demand was not met.
“But we did not give in to the demand and reported the incident to the police.”
The couple also urged the public to stop sharing the video.
Despite insisting the explicit clip was morphed, netizens did not believe the ‘Kulhad Pizza’ couple.
Many even claimed the couple deliberately leaked the sextape to generate publicity for their restaurant.
Sehaj and Gurpreet have now broken their silence on the allegations.
The couple appeared on the Talks with Namit podcast and strongly denied that the leak was a publicity stunt.
A tearful Gurpreet told host Namit Chawla:
“People say we did this for fame. We had fame earlier as well.
“We started with a cart and built a restaurant with so much hard work.
“Today, sales at our restaurant have dropped to 10% of what we used to get earlier.
“Only 10%. Which person will do this to themselves?”
Speaking about the fallout from the controversy, Sehaj stated it was very tough for them.
He claimed his wife did not come out of her room for a day and also stopped eating.
Sehaj said:
“We had to force her to eat. Somedays, she ate only one chapati a day.”
Although they faced claims that the sex video was shared online to boost publicity for their restaurant, Sehaj revealed the reality of the effect the clip had.
He explained that after the video appeared online, all their plans for expansion and collaborations fell through.
Sehaj added: “At that time, we were just praying for the bad times to pass.”
