Anita's saree brought glitz and glamour to the Hollywood red carpet
Dev Patel attended the 89th Academy awards red carpet in a suave Burberry suit. However, all eyes were on Dev Patel’s mum in a stunning black and gold velvet saree.
After winning a BAFTA for ‘Best Actor in a Supporting Role’, Dev was nominated for an Oscar in the same category for his role in Lion. Unfortunately, he lost to Mahershala Ali who starred in Moonlight.
Although he may not have won an Oscar, fans from around the world love how he brought his mother Anita Patel to the auspicious event.
Anita wore a shimmery saree blouse. The black and gold colours make perfect evening wear. Her saree brought glitz and glamour to the Hollywood red carpet as the diamantes glistened beautifully.
Additionally, Anita’s sophisticated hair up-do shows off her sparkly statement earrings.
Social media praised Anita’s amazing Desi look as she strutted down the Oscars red carpet.

Dev told the press at awards how he wouldn’t have wanted to bring anyone else to this year’s Oscars.
He says Anita got him his very first audition after seeing an advert on the train. Without her, he wouldn’t be an actor.
Their close mother and son bond is evident from the red carpet pictures and fans were quick to comment on their strong relationship.

Dev and Anita made the cutest entrance to the awards. Plus, she sweetly consoled him when he didn’t win the award.

Lion tells the heart-wrenching true story of a Sagoo. An Indian child who gets lost on a train and ends up adopted by a family in new Zealand.
Dev plays the older version of Sagoo 25 years later. He suffers flashbacks from his childhood family and vows to find them. Lion also stars Nicole Kidman.
Interestingly, Dev had to work on his appearance for Lion. In which, he had to look more masculine, with emphasis on his physique, and growing a beard. In addition, he had to adopt an Australian accent.
Having come a long way since Skins, we can see why Dev Patel’s mum is so proud.
