"I hope to inculcate the same values in our children.”
Deepika Padukone has revealed that she is excited to start a family with Ranveer Singh.
She spoke to Vogue Singapore and opened up about her desire to have children, saying:
“Ranveer and I love children.
“We look forward to the day when we will start our own family.
“When I meet the people I have grown up with, my aunts, uncles, and family friends, they always say I haven’t changed.
“That says a lot about our upbringing. In this industry, it is easy to get carried away by fame and money. But nobody treats me like a celebrity at home.
“I am a daughter and sister first. I don’t want that to change.
“My family keeps me grounded and Ranveer and I hope to inculcate the same values in our children.”
In 2019, Deepika admitted that while she wanted to have children, she and Ranveer were not thinking about it any time soon.
She also expressed disappointment in judgmental societies by stating:
“I think it is sad that society kind of puts itself and people in this rut that, okay you’ve been dating for so long so when will you get married and have children and then grandchildren.
“It is almost like it’s the said expectation. I am not surprised by the rumours.
“Do we intend on having children? Of course we do, we both love kids.
“But are we intent on having children anytime soon? Absolutely not!
“We are too selfish at this point and focused on our careers, and I don’t think it would be fair to have kids at this point.
“We aren’t even thinking about kids.”
To celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary, Deepika and Ranveer travelled to Belgium and shared selected moments with their fans on social media.
Deepika shared a picture in which she affectionately kisses Ranveer on his cheek and captioned the post: “5 of infinity.”
Fans of the couple commented on the heartwarming post and congratulated the pair on their anniversary.
One fan wrote:
