"Hopefully technology like AI can help us be more efficient.”
Bill Gates and Rishi Sunak faced questions from ChatGPT.
The pair addressed a wide range of inquiries, from discussing the guidance they would offer to their younger selves to sharing the task they would like AI to perform for them.
Bill Gates posted the video on LinkedIn and said:
“Rishi Sunak and I were interviewed by an AI chatbot and had a great conversation about the future. Spoiler alert: it’s bright.”
The video opens with Mr Sunak stating that he and Mr Gates are in Imperial College, London, where they have been meeting some of the UK’s best pioneers in clean tech.
Bill Gates then revealed that an AI will be interviewing them.
The first issue posed by ChatGPT related to how technology will affect the world’s economy and labour sector in ten years.
In response, Bill Gates said that because there is a labour scarcity in the healthcare and education sectors, we need to be more efficient.
He stated: “Hopefully technology like AI can help us be more efficient.”
Another query posed by ChatGPT is what guidance they would offer to their younger selves at the start of their careers if they could travel back in time.
In response to the same, Bill Gates and Rishi Sunak agreed that they would be more relaxed in the present.
Bill Gates said: “I was kind of overly intense and didn’t believe in weekends, I didn’t believe in vacations.”
He continued by saying his definition of work pattern was a “narrow view”.
The co-founder of Microsoft noted that while that was effective for the original Microsoft team, adjustments were required when new teams were added.
Rishi Sunak stated that he has a similar response and that he is an immigrant who has always worked to advance in life.
He added:
“Over time I’ve come to realise you’ve got to live in the moment.”
The next question asked respondents to name one aspect of their professions that they wish AI could handle automatically.
In response, Bill Gates said that he occasionally utilises AI to make his notes “clever” when he is composing them.
Moreover, he is revealed to have written songs, poetry and other works using AI.
Meanwhile, Rishi Sunak said that it would be fantastic if AI could handle Prime Minister’s Questions for him each week.
