"She told me I shouldn't be in her path."
A viral video has shown a woman racially abusing a family of Pakistani origin in a park.
The shocking incident happened in Durham, Ontario, Canada.
Rabia Zamir posted the abuse she suffered on TikTok, detailing what happened to her and her family on the evening of August 15, 2021.
The video shows a woman in a mobility scooter shouting racist slurs at Rabia, her family and other South Asian people at the park.
Rabia had been out with her family along the water when the woman rode passed her.
The woman began shouting at Rabia for wearing a kurta.
Rabia told Narcity: “She was cursing at me for my outfit, and how I smell bad, and for using my language in front of her face.
“She told me I shouldn’t be in her path.”
Despite trying to ignore the woman, she repeatedly drove close to Rabia, who is eight months pregnant and was walking with her 18-month-old daughter.
Whilst recalling the racist attack that killed a Pakistani family in June 2021, Rabia said:
“At this point, I was like… This is scary. I’m super close to the water. I know what happened in London.
“I didn’t want her to run into me and my daughter because she was driving right into us. So I started to record just for our safety.”
In the video, the woman is heard racially abusing the family and telling Rabia to stop speaking in her language.
She shouts:
“I’m the Canadian here. I’ll speak my language, but f**k you and yours!”
The woman then parked her scooter in front of Rabia’s husband and swore at him.
Rabia says: “Not in front of my daughter, man! Chill out!
“Don’t swear in front of my daughter.”
The abuse led to park visitors defending the family.
One person is heard telling the woman “goodbye” repeatedly.
The woman angrily responds:
“You goodbye! I don’t have to goodbye. You don’t pay for s**t yet. You don’t even live here. So f**k you!”
Rabia said: “She did not seem scared of much.
“She started to enjoy the attention and that’s when we were like, forget it. She’s just, you know, getting her moment.”
After the woman left, bystanders comforted Rabia, leaving her in tears of joy.
On September 2, 2021, Durham Regional Police Service stated that the 61-year-old woman was charged with causing a disturbance.

Rabia’s TikTok video has received over seven million views and she has received messages of support.
She said: “People are apologising for her behaviour and are ashamed of what happened.
“People from Port Perry and around the world are messaging to see if my family and I are okay.
“It was so good to see everyone come together. I think it was a blessing in disguise because, had the local community not stood up, I would’ve probably gone overly worried and insecure about representing my cultural clothes in public out of fear of hate crimes.
“However, due to how positively it played out, I will continue to embrace [it], regardless of what people think!”
