The British Council has launched the 2025 GREAT Scholarships, offering Indian students the opportunity to study postgraduate courses in the UK.
The programme was introduced in collaboration with the UK government’s GREAT Britain campaign.
It will provide 26 scholarships to students from India, allowing them to enrol in one-year postgraduate courses at several British universities for the 2025-26 academic year.
Each scholarship is valued at a minimum of £10,000 covering tuition fees across various fields of study.
Indian students can apply for the GREAT Scholarships 2025 at 26 leading UK institutions.
These are:

- City, University of London
- Edge Hill University
- Keele University
- Leeds Arts University
- Liverpool Hope University
- Norwich University of the Arts
- Queen’s University Belfast
- Robert Gordon University
- Royal College of Art
- Royal Northern College of Music
- Sheffield Hallam University
- St George’s, University of London
- The University of Edinburgh
- The University of Manchester
- Trinity Laban
- University College London
- University of Bath
- University of Derby
- University of Plymouth
- University of Sheffield
- University of St. Andrews
- University of Strathclyde
- University of Warwick
The scholarships are also open to students from Bangladesh and Pakistan.
How do you know if you are Eligible?
To be eligible for the GREAT Scholarships 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a citizen and resident of India.
- Hold an undergraduate degree and demonstrate motivation and interest in the chosen field of study.
- Meet the English language requirements set by the respective UK institution.
- Show commitment to engaging with the UK through academic and personal development.
- Be willing to participate in networking events with fellow GREAT scholars in the UK to share experiences and insights.
- Serve as an ambassador for the GREAT Scholarships and maintain contact with the British Council and their respective higher education institutions.
- As alumni, scholars should be open to sharing their experiences with future applicants.

Apply for individual scholarships by following the instructions outlined on each university’s scholarship page.
The deadline to apply for a GREAT Scholarship varies according to each institution. Therefore, candidates are advised to check the specific deadlines listed on their chosen university’s pages.
Selected scholars will be informed by the respective universities.
Scholarship funding will be disbursed to successful candidates upon completion of the registration process at the university.
