The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi officially addressed the nation on Thursday, March 19, 2020, concerning the Coronavirus pandemic and it seems Bollywood stars have approved of his ‘janta curfew’.

PM Modi appealed to the citizens of the country to observe a self-curfew known as the junta curfew.

This concept will be put into action from March 22, 2020. It will act as part of a trial run to test social isolation.

This decision has come to as a means of preventing the spread of the Coronavirus.

PM Modi has requested religious and political leaders as well as popular celebrities to share the idea with their fans.

Soon after, Bollywood stars lent their support to PM Modi’s initiative. These include celebrities like Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar who urged their fans and followers to observe the curfew.

Actor Ajay Devgn took to Twitter to share PM Modi’s message. He wrote:

“Fellow Indians, Namaskar. A short while ago, Our PM Saab, Modiji, requested all of us to show resolve & restraint in the face of COVID-19.

“Please also adhere to the Janta Curfew on 22nd March by staying home. Stay safe.”

Akshay Kumar also took to Twitter to appeal to his fan following. He said:

“An excellent initiative by PM @narendramodi ji…this Sunday, March 22 from 7 am to 9 pm let’s join in the #JantaCurfew and show the world we are together in this.”

Big B was another Bollywood star who supported PM Modi’s initiative. He tweeted:

“T 3475 – I support #JantaCurfew .. 22 March .. 7 am to 9 pm .. I applaud all fellow countrymen who work tirelessly to keep the essential services operational in such extenuating circumstances .. BE ONE, BE SAFE, BE IN PRECAUTION!”

There is no doubt that the Coronavirus pandemic has caused chaos and disruption worldwide.

Anushka Sharma explained the importance of social distancing in this testing time. She tweeted:

“To all of us citizens of India, this is the time to adhere to and abide by the preventive and precautionary directives stated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for us to fight against Coronavirus (Covid 19).

“Social DISTANCING is vital to control (the) spread of COVID 19 and we should all absolutely follow this.”

“It is of extreme importance that kids below 10 STAY HOME and Senior citizens over the age of 60 STAY HOME.”

Riteish Deshmukh also chimed in stating the elderly must be careful. He said:

“Hon. PM Shri @narendramodi ji announces ‘janta curfew’ on 22 March, from 7am to 9pm. He also appeals to all to work from home as much as possible &adopt social distancing. Senior citizens above 60 to stay at home for next 2 weeks. Let’s do this as one nation.”

Unfortunately, the Coronavirus has caused panic, disruption and uncertainty concerning health conditions, daily life and income.

The virus, which originated from Wuhan, China has spread across the world.

Globally, the Coronavirus has claimed more than 8,000 lives including infecting 173 people in India and killing 4.

Precaution methods must be adhered to, in this instance, the janta curfew must be adopted by the civilians in India to prevent more cases.
