Swaroop Sampat Rawal has been honoured with a prestigious Fellowship from the University of Worcester, marking a major milestone in her remarkable journey from Bollywood star to globally respected educator.

The celebrated actress and former Miss India said the recognition made her reflect on her growth from a hesitant student to a confident academic who found her purpose in the UK.

Her Fellowship highlights her evolving legacy as an influential figure in education and social change across India and beyond.

The University described her achievements as inspiring, particularly as her work continues to impact children worldwide.

Swaroop rose to fame in the sitcom Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi before winning the title of Femina Miss India Universe 1979 and representing India at the Miss Universe 1979 pageant, which led to a career in entertainment that later evolved into a passion for teaching.

She also appeared in the Kamal Haasan-Reena Roy starrer Karishma.

Her interest in education led her to pursue a PhD in Education at the University of Worcester, where she earned her degree in 2006.

Her doctoral work explored how drama-based learning could help develop life skills among children with learning disabilities.
