"Distasteful attempt by Mahira Sharma to gain publicity"
Big Boss 13 contestant Mahira Sharma has been accused of forging a fake certificate of appreciation by the committee of the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF) 2020.
Mahira, who became a household name with her stint in Big Boss 13, attended the event with other celebrities.
She posted her certificate on her Instagram story on February 20, 2020. Mahira claimed she received the DPIFF award for being the ‘Most Fashionable Contestant of Big Boss 13.’
Since her announcement on her Instagram story, it has been copied and reposted several times by fan pages on Instagram and media.
Upon hearing the news, the organisers of the DPIFF issued an official statement on Instagram condemning her act.
They stated that despite Mahira Sharma attending the event, she did not receive an award. The statement read:
“This immoral and distasteful attempt by Mahira Sharma to gain publicity and personal benefits by counterfeiting a very reputed award and showcasing her name on to a falsified category has created an irreversible damage to the brand’s image and reputation.”
The statement continued to mention that numerous media houses have glorified Mahira for winning the falsified award without checking the authenticity.
The organisers have also issued an “Intimation letter” to Mahira Sharma asking her to remove “all the misleading PR activities done by her and her team.”
They have also demanded Mahira to issue a “public apology to the brand within 48 hours.”
If Mahira fails to comply with the demands made by the DPIFF then she will face “legal proceedings against her.”
Recently Mahira Sharma took to Instagram to share her reply to the accusations. She posted a lengthy statement clarifying what happened. She captioned it:
“Okay so the world has been talking about it since last night, here is my reply which is 100 percent true and honest.”
In her statement, Mahira Sharma stated that she was invited to the DPIFF by “Mr Premal Mehta from Purple Fox Media” and “Yash Naike who is an artiste manager” for the event.
Mahira went on to say that Mr Mehta contacted her manager Mr Abhinav Tanwar. Mr Mehta told him that Mahira will be awarded the ‘Most Fashionable Bigg Boss 13 Contestant’ certificate.
Despite the team of Bigg Boss 13 being called on stage, Mahira added that Mr Mehta handed the award to her manager citing the “rush on stage” meant she could not receive her solo award on stage.
Mahira also went on to strongly deny the accusations against her. She stated that she has the “all the required proofs and chats” to prove her innocence.

She further requested the organisers of the DPIFF to consider this matter and extended her support to clear the accusations.
