The British Fashion Council (BFC) has announced actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas as its new Ambassador for Positive Change.

The actress is already a global UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and has now joined the BFC to support the organisation.

She will be aiding BFC’s efforts for a positive change through utilising fashion to inspire upcoming generations.

Priyanka Chopra will promote the best practice within the fashion industry in order to celebrate moral and inclusive principles.

BFC’s decision to appoint Priyanka comes as part of its strategy around the Institute of Positive Fashion (IPF).

The IPF has helped develop the British fashion industry in its fight for equality, resilience and fairness through both global and local action.

Speaking about the announcement, Chief Executive of BFC, Caroline Rush CBE, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Priyanka Chopra Jonas as the BFC Ambassador for Positive Change.

“Her work as a social activist, promoting causes such as the environment and women’s rights and her commitment to using her reach for good are what have made her one of the industry’s most courageous voices and the perfect choice as the BFC Ambassador for Positive Change.

“We look forward to working with Priyanka over the next twelve months, for her to share her voice and knowledge on causes she cares about, helping us with the important goal towards creating an industry that is more diverse, equal and fair!”

Sharing her joy about the news, Priyanka Chopra said:

Priyanka Chopra is a renowned figure across the globe with numerous accolades to her name.

In 2016, the actress was awarded The Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian honours.

She has starred in both Bollywood and Hollywood films and was featured on the cover of Times Magazine Time 100 issue as one of the ‘Most Influential People’ in the world.

Not only that, but Priyanka has also been conferred as one of the ‘Most Powerful Women’ by Forbes.

Priyanka Chopra is also actively involved in several charities and efforts to support and protect the rights of children.

She has promoted education for girls worldwide with her namesake charity, The Priyanka Chopra Foundation for Health and Education.

As the new Ambassador for Positive Change, Priyanka Chopra will have an active role throughout the year from November 2020 to December 2021.

She will be included in the London Fashion Week and The Fashion Awards.
