Bajatey Raho ~ Review

Bajatey Raho is a fun revenge comedy directed by Shashant A Shah. Our Bollywood film reviewer, Faisal Saif provides the low-down on the story, performances, direction and music. Find out if it is one to watch or give a miss.

Bajetey Raho

They say to rob a thief, you have to think like a thief. You have to behave like a thief. You have to be like a thief. Even if you are not a thief.

Revenge comedy, Bajatey Raho takes the same route but in a funnier way. It follows four innocent people who try to take on the system of a corrupt man and give him back what he deserves. Shashant A Shah, the director of Dasvidaniya (2008) and Challo Dilli (2011) brings a comical tale of honour and self respect which will make you laugh and think twice.

Bajatey Raho also reminds you of a Spanish Direct-to-DVD acclaimed film Ladron Que Roba A Ladron (2007) which also means To Rob A Thief.

The thief is Sabbarwal (played by Ravi Kishan) who is on a roll committing a series of frauds. But the evil misdoings of this businessman has created a huge impact on the lives of four poor innocent people.

Mrs. Baweja (played by Dolly Ahluwalia), Sukhi (played by Tusshar Kapoor), Mintoo Hasan (layed by Vinay Pathak) and Ballu (played by Ranvir Shorey) are all victims of Sabbarwal’s actions. Now these four people are looking out for revenge from Sabbarwal at any cost.

Without giving away much of the film I would only like to bring to your notice that these four innocent people are about to plan a different type of revenge for Sabbarwal. The revenge will be in a language which is best understood by this man.

The film has some wonderful performances by Dolly Ahluwalia, Tusshar Kapoor, Ranvir Shorey, Vinay Pathak and Vishaka Singh (of course). All the characters have lived their respective part to the fullest.

But the man who walks away with the cake is none other than Ravi Kishan. Ravi Kishan literally grows on you in every single frame and at one point during the film, he makes sure that you start to hate him. The other cast of the film is good too.

Shashant A Shah has made an honest effort. Now why do I want to call this an honest effort? Because Shashant A Shah has brought in an honest story, extracted some honest performances for the cast. And made a film which honestly entertains you. This time the Director looks very confident in making his mark on your brains.

Musically, the film has a music who goes perfectly with the flow. Especially the foot tapping number ‘Naagin Dance’ which is already a hit number with masses.

The cinematography and production values are equally good. The editing part is little weak especially on the romantic angle between Tusshar and Vishaka.

Bajatey Raho can be touted as a small film with a big heart. The film entertains will not disappoint you but will entertain you and deserves a watch.
