Pakistani singer Ahmed Jahanzeb has broken his silence over the controversy surrounding the Ishq Murshid OST that swept audiences off their feet.

In a recent appearance on the morning show Rise and Shine, Jahanzeb addressed claims made by actress Javeria Saud.

Saud had earlier stated that she was the lyricist behind the immensely popular OST ‘Tera Mera Hai Pyar Amar.’

However, she received no credit for her contribution. Jahanzeb has now strongly refuted this.

Speaking with host Nadia Khan, he said the lyrics were entirely written by him in a single night, without help from anyone else.

Jahanzeb explained: “There was no poet behind this. I wrote it overnight. The song just came to me as I was imagining the scene.”

He mentioned that the track was not preplanned and came about during a discussion with director Farooq Rind about a key emotional moment.

The scene in question involved the lead characters, played by Bilal Abbas and Dur-e-Fishan Saleem, meeting for the very first time.

Jahanzeb suggested a fresh soundtrack instead of using a generic melody, which led to him writing the lyrics spontaneously.

The singer clarified that while he often shares drafts with friends and colleagues for feedback, it does not equate to co-authorship.

He added:

“There are people around me who offer suggestions, but that doesn’t mean they wrote the song.”

Without naming Javeria Saud directly, he hinted that claiming someone else’s work without involvement was both strange and unfair.

Although he chose not to dive deep into the matter, Jahanzeb did promise to speak more openly about the issue at a later date.

He expressed gratitude for the public’s overwhelming response, saying that the true credit for the song’s success belongs to the listeners.

Jahanzeb said: “The audience made it what it is. Their love turned it into something special. It broke every trend and record.”

‘Tera Mera Hai Pyar Amar’ became one of the most-streamed OSTs of 2023 and earned Jahanzeb the Best Original Soundtrack award at the Hum Awards.

Reflecting on the honour, he shared that it took 25 years of persistence in the music industry to reach this milestone moment.

The drama Ishq Murshid aired between October 2023 and May 2024, gaining immense popularity for both its story and its soundtrack.
