"You have achieved huge popularity in Gujarat."
Aditya Gadhvi opened up about how Narendra Modi praised him when he attended a show when the singer was 18 years old.
Originally from Gujarat, Aditya has rendered many chartbusters in Gujarati and is heavily involved in Gujarati film scoring.
In July 2023, Aditya released a single named ‘Khalasi‘.
It was an instant hit and has amassed over 50 million views on YouTube.
Aditya met Mr Modi before 2014 when the latter was the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
In a video posted on X, Aditya delved into his meeting with Mr Modi.
Aditya recalled: “My age was perhaps 18 or 19. I was already fond of singing so I used to compete in a lot of reality shows.
“That day, I remember, I knew about [Mr Modi]’s work, but I had not met him.
“Our programme was going on and Modi Ji came. All the applause and the chants had happened.
“As soon as our show finished, my father asked, ‘Do you want to meet Modi?’ I replied, ‘Yes, absolutely’.
“So I was mentally preparing that I’d have to introduce myself and say who I am.
“However, as soon as I went onstage and approached [Mr Modi], he glanced at me and said, ‘What’s up, son?’
“He said straight away, ‘You have achieved huge popularity in Gujarat. Have you completed your studies or not?’
“He has an aim to give India a place. He accepts challenges.”
Aditya Gadhvi then went on to sing a few lines from his song and dedicated them to Mr Modi.
He added: “His vision is brilliant.”
The singer enthused that he was excited about using his music to aid in the Prime Minister’s vision.
Mr Modi reposted the video on X and said:
“Khalasi is topping the charts and Aditya Gadhvi is winning hearts for his music.”
“This video brings back memories from a special interaction.”

After winning the reality show Lok Gaayak Gujarat when he was 18, Aditya made a name for himself by performing Gujarati folk music throughout the state.
He also worked with AR Rahman on the 2014 film Lekar Hum Deewana Dil.
In 2019, Priyanka Chopra Jonas danced to Aditya’s music at his performance in Ahmedabad that coincided with Navratri.
Expressing his shock at this incident, Aditya said:
“I was shocked to see Priyanka performing dandiya to my songs, as I just felt she was here only for the promotions of her film.”
In 2021, the singer released the hit song ‘Halaji Tara Hath Vakhanu‘.
He is also famous for ‘Vitthal Vitthal‘ – a song from the Gujarati web series Vitthal Teedi (2022).
Aditya Gadhvi also sang the Gujarati Titans anthem ‘Aava De’ at the 2023 Indian Premier League.
