Delving into this, the Krrish actress said: “‘Exotic’ was initially going to be in English too.

“But in all my tracks, I want to have some aspect of my Indian identity.

“For me, being Indian is very exotic. After Pitbull sent me his lyrics, I suggested to ‘Exotic’ producer RedOne that we could consider having some Hindi lyrics.

“He said, ‘Yeah, let’s try that’— and I quickly wrote the lyrics and sang it and he loved it.

“This is a summer song and we have so much fun in our Hindi movies and songs.

“We Indians really know how to party, man! And the world needs to see that.

“So the video has Indian-inspired dance steps too. It has a mix of Hindi and English since the world is so global.

“An all-Korean song topped the Billboard charts, so why not a Hindi song?”

Adding an Indian hint, they also celebrate Holi with each other.

Priyanka wears attractive clothing and the song shows how things went wrong with her partner.

The audience sees them arguing in a colourless scene.

‘I Can’t Make You Love Me’ is Priyanka’s version of the 1990 Bonnie Raitt song of the same name.

“So this is the reason why [Priyanka] is loved by everyone around.”

“She never leaves her roots. She knows who she’s and what she’s doing and everything falls in its place.

“She even used colours and mehndi in this song as well which is typical Indian practice. That makes her unique.

“She has a long way to go! Know your roots, know who you are and what are you doing.

“Everything else will fall in its place!”

These words describe the appeal Priyanka continues to have with her work.

‘I Can’t Make You Love Me’ is undeniably a work of art in its presentation and its content.

As we move away from Priyanka’s wondrous vocals in Hollywood, we come back to her roots in Hindi cinema.

In 2014, Priyanka garnered universal acclaim for her performance in Mary Kom.

One of Bollywood’s most sterling biopics, Priyanka steals the show as the titular boxer.

‘Chaoro’ is a lullaby that Mary Kom sings while putting her son to sleep.

Priyanka provides the vocals herself and the result is an incredibly soothing track.

According to the composer Shashi Suman, a then-unmarried Priyanka took 30 minutes to record the song.

Shashi elaborated: “When you see Priyanka sing on screen, you will feel that she is a real mother, putting her children to sleep.

“That’s quite something given the fact that forgot being a mother, she’s not even married.

“When I told her this, she laughed that she was an actress and it came naturally to her to convincingly showcase emotions without actually experiencing them.”

Surabhi Redkar from Koimoi notes the impact of the song:

“It is a lullaby that is just soothing to listen to and has quite a deep impact on you.

“An emotional number, this one manages to speak to your heart directly.

“With Manipuri lyrics, the song is an absolute delight to the ears and Priyanka manages to put in a lot of love through her vocals into it.”

‘Chaoro’ is rousing and gentle, sure to leave a permanent mark on the hearts of the audience.
