"I don’t see myself having the courage to hang off a plane"
Priyanka Chopra Jonas gave her thoughts on performing her own stunts and admitted that she is not too keen.
On whether she had any dream stunts in mind, Priyanka said:
“No please. I love what Tom Cruise does and Akshay Kumar does and they’re really good at that.
“But I don’t see myself having the courage to hang off a plane that’s taking off or doing that kind of stuff.”
Despite her reluctance to flirt with danger at Cruise-level intensity, she hasn’t shied away from action entirely.
In her latest film, Heads of State, Priyanka plays MI6 agent Noel Bisset.
While Priyanka is seen in several high-stakes sequences in the film, she was quick to give credit to her stunt team.
“I do love being a part of big mega movies. We do stand on the shoulders of so many people, there’s a massive stunt team that made me do all the things that I did.”
Peeling back the curtain on what goes into those adrenaline-fuelled scenes, she added:
“There are wires, mats and lots of it. So, it is the magic of the movies.”
Elaborating further on why she’s not eager to do extravagant stunts, Priyanka said:
“I don’t think… I can’t Tom Cruise. Like, Tom Cruise is Tom Cruise for a reason. Holding on to an airplane and flying? That stuff that Tom and Akshay can do, leave it to them to do that.
“That stuff I might be a little bit…I might need training.”
Priyanka Chopra’s career has spanned genres. But as the medium evolves, she said the acting process remains rooted in adaptability.
She said: “The amount of avenues we have to consume media has changed, as an industry we have to change and adapt to that.
“I mean I would love to say that movies should only be watched in a theatre, but that is not the world we live in.
“Everyone consumes media in their own way and they should be able to do it. We make movies for every kind of screen.”
Heads of State also stars John Cena as US President Will Derringer and Idris Elba as UK Prime Minister Sam Clarke as they find themselves stranded in Central Europe after a terrorist strike.
Priyanka Chopra’s character becomes essential to their survival, offering both muscle and intelligence in the face of danger.
