Nayab will be Yumna’s film debut.
She plays the titular role, a young woman from Karachi who is passionate about cricket but is unable to fully immerse herself in the game due to the lack of opportunities.
Yumna Zaidi previously said she had received several film offers but she denied the scripts and continued to work in TV.
When she was shown the Nayab script, she was so taken by the story that she could not refuse.
Yumna said: “It is a brilliant story and it is meaningful. The whole team is trying their best to execute it the way it should be.
“Now that we have chosen good content, we want to do justice to it so that the audience also enjoys it when they go to the cinema.”
Nayab releases in cinemas on January 26, 2024.
