"those two seem the most serious about it."
BBC’s The Apprentice is nearing its end, with one task left before the notorious interviews.
The series has seen plenty of highs and lows for this year’s candidates and exclusively speaking to DESIblitz, 2022 winner Harpreet Kaur gave her thoughts on the remaining candidates as well as who she thinks will triumph.
The latest task saw the candidates selling products on a shopping channel, resulting in some chaotic moments.
Harpreet, who is currently working for Sky Vegas, found it hilarious but was impressed by one of the contestants.
She told DESIblitz: “I thought the shopping channel task was absolutely hilarious, it was really fun to watch.
“Seeing Lord Sugar watch the TV selling task with his grandson was a nice touch, something I hadn’t seen on the show before.
“Mia [Collins] completely smashed it, and Lord Sugar was clearly impressed.
“That said, I do think Amber-Rose [Badrudin] and Chisola [Chitambala] gave it their best shot, but they just didn’t quite hit the mark.”
Amber-Rose Badrudin and Anisa Khan are the South Asian candidates still on the show and while Anisa did the best she could in the task, Harpreet believes Amber-Rose had room for improvement.
“Amber-Rose could have performed better with the actual selling.
“When she was negotiating for the air fryer, she could have had a more professional strategy, like Mia did, to secure the deal.
“That could have helped them a bit more in this task.
“Also, with the face steamer, her project manager [Max England] was instructing her to, ‘Use it on your face’, but she didn’t seem to follow that direction.
“As for Anisa, she did well, she did the best she could. I actually liked the products she chose.
“It wasn’t the ideal task for her to really showcase her strengths, but she pulled her weight and gave it her best effort.”
On Amber-Rose and Anisa’s development throughout The Apprentice, Harpreet explained:
“Anisa seems more aware of her own strengths and weaknesses now.
“In the early weeks, she threw herself into every task, but she’s become more self-aware, realising that not every task plays to her strengths.
“That said, she’s always contributing, I’ve never seen her shy away or fade into the background. It’s great to see her adapt and lend herself to different tasks, and she works well in a team.
“Amber-Rose, on the other hand, has a completely different skill set.
“She always makes an active contribution in every task too.”
The next task will see the candidates create and launch an environmentally conscious fashion brand.
The five that progress will face the dreaded interviews, where Lord Sugar’s trusty aides will grill the entrepreneurs about their business plans.
It is an episode that usually results in nerves and sometimes tears.
Having faced the interviews, Harpreet stated:
“At this stage of the competition, it’s very risky because everyone wants to make it to the final five, and any mistakes are going to be glaring now that there are fewer people left.
“If you’ve been hiding away, you’ll definitely stand out.
“If something goes wrong, you need to take accountability, admit it, and show how you can avoid making the same mistake again.
“By now, Lord Sugar has had plenty of time to observe everyone, and there’s no fooling him. You have to actively contribute and really push yourself to stand out if you want to secure a spot in the top five.”
Having watched the candidates perform, Harpreet believes Mia and Anisa are the favourites to win:
“From my experience as a candidate on the show, those two seem the most serious about it.
“You can see it on their faces, not only are they good at this, but they genuinely want to win for the right reasons.
“It’s entertaining for us to watch, but at the end of the day, it’s a business investment show. People are looking for real investment to run a business, not just to win a prize.
“It’s clear that Anisa and Mia are businesswomen, and they’re passionate about what they do.
“They probably already have a clear plan for what they would do with the investment, so it has to be one of them. If it’s anyone else, I’d be quite surprised.”
