The glamour quotient of the evening is further amplified
The Indian Premier League (IPL) returns for another season, and like every year, IPL 2024 will begin with a star-studded opening ceremony.
In the inaugural match, defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the MA Chidambaram International Cricket Stadium in Chennai.
But before the match commences, there will be an exhilarating opening ceremony.
Headlining the star-studded lineup is the legendary music composer AR Rahman, known for his soul-stirring compositions and a repertoire that spans across genres and languages.
Rahman’s involvement ensures an auditory experience that will captivate and enthral the audience, setting a high note for the evening.
Joining him in the musical extravaganza is Sonu Nigam, whose versatile voice has graced numerous Bollywood hits.
Nigam’s performance is highly anticipated, promising to add a layer of emotional depth and resonance to the ceremony.
The glamour quotient of the evening is further amplified by the presence of Bollywood superstars Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff.
Known for their dynamic screen presence and charismatic performances, both actors are set to bring their unique energy to the ceremony, ensuring an unforgettable visual spectacle.
Their participation highlights the seamless blend of sports and entertainment that the IPL embodies, offering fans a holistic experience that goes beyond cricket.
Both stars are in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which is scheduled for release on April 11, 2024.
The opening ceremony is scheduled to start at 6:30 pm (IST), serving as the perfect prelude to the first match, which will commence at 8:00 pm (IST).
The fixture between two of the most popular teams in the league is eagerly awaited by fans, marking the beginning of what promises to be another thrilling season of the IPL.
The 2024 IPL gets underway on March 22 and will run until May 26.
Even before the tournament’s start, there have been surprise announcements and withdrawals.
Harry Brook withdrew from the tournament following the death of his grandmother.
The 25-year-old was set to play for Delhi Capitals after being bought for £380,000 in December 2023.
On social media, he announced: “Now that she has passed my family and I are grieving and I need to be around them.
“Over the last few years I have learned to prioritise my mental wellbeing and that of my family’s, honestly nothing is more important to me than my family.
“So whilst this may come as surprising to some, I know it’s the right decision for me.
“I’m young and hope to have many, many more years of cricket to come which I intend to make the absolute most of.”
Meanwhile, David Willey looks set to miss the start of the IPL due to personal reasons.
