"why the hell would we start dating?"
Sunny Leone revealed that several years ago, she was in a relationship with comedian Russell Peters, however, it lasted for a “hot second”.
She explained that they had been close friends for a long time but once they started dating, their friendship became complicated.
However, it was a brief relationship, ending in 2007.
Sunny made the revelation during an episode of One Mic Stand season two.
Referring to Russell, Sunny told comedians Sapan Verma and Neeti Palta:
“I dated a comedian but it was like, for a hot second. It wasn’t for a very long time.”
On their friendship becoming complicated, Sunny continued:
“We messed it up. I mean, we were friends for years, why the hell would we start dating?
“It was the worst thing ever that we could have ever done and I am still mad to this day because we would be such good friends still.”
Neeti then asked Sunny if she has been in any of Russell’s jokes, to which she replied:
“I have heard that I am in a couple of his jokes.”
In 2013, Russell had opened up about his relationship with Sunny Leone and called her a “real sweetheart”.
He had said: “Yes, we did date each other. It was five-and-a-half years ago.
“It was a wonderful time. She’s a real sweetheart, you know.”
Sunny’s appearance on One Mic Stand was her first attempt at being a stand-up comedian.
Speaking about the opportunity, she said:
“I have loved stand-up comedy, and I have watched several shows here and abroad as well.
“Seeing a comedian performing on stage looks so simple and natural.
“The reality of how difficult it is to actually connect with audiences and make them crack on every joke is something I have learnt very closely now.”
Sunny Leone is married to Daniel Weber and has been since 2011. The couple have three children, six-year-old Nisha and twin boys Noah and Asher.
Sunny often shares photos and videos of her family on social media.
On the work front, Sunny Leone has numerous projects lined up.
Some of her upcoming films include Tamil historical drama Veeramadevi, comedy-horror Koka Kola and Rangeela, which will mark her Malayalam film debut.
Sunny also has special appearances in songs for The Battle of Bhima Koregaon and Kotigobba 3.
