"It should be cool."
An Indian man living in the US has allegedly admitted to killing a convicted sex offender.
The 29-year-old Varun Suresh reportedly confessed to stabbing David Brimmer in Fremont, California.
Brimmer, who was aged 71 when he died, was listed on California’s Megan’s Law website as a sex offender.
In 1995, he was convicted of lewd and lascivious acts with a child and spent nine years in prison.
The police said that Suresh did not know the sex offender personally.
When his phone was searched, the police allegedly discovered that Suresh had been viewing several profiles from the Megan’s Law website.
The screenshots included the names, addresses, photographs, convictions, and physical descriptions of convicted sex offenders.
The investigators added that Brimmer’s screenshot was taken approximately 45 minutes before the first call was made to report the attack.
However, on Monday, September 23, 2025, court documents, which were released, claimed that Suresh had wanted to kill a sex offender for years because they “hurt children”.
He reportedly added that such criminals “deserve to die”.
Suresh allegedly told authorities: “It is not your duty to decide whether Heaven will accept them. It’s your duty to send them to the gates.”
According to the police, Suresh impersonated a “CPA going door-to-door looking for new clients”.
This was an attempt to get Brimmer’s attention and to gain his trust.
The 29-year-old Indian man reportedly carried a bag, notebook, and coffee “to appear authentic”.
Court documents said: “Suresh thought [Brimmer] may be ‘monitoring’ his residential street, ‘thinking someone was going to kill him’.
“So, Suresh used the same ruse at [Brimmer’s] neighbours’ houses prior to going to the victim’s address.
“This would make Suresh appear legitimate.”
Suresh apparently knocked on Brimmer’s door and spoke to him in a non-threatening manner.
After shaking the 71-year-old’s hand and confirming his name, Suresh said: “I knew I had the right guy.”
Suresh proceeded to drop his items and pushed Brimmer back into his house.
After momentarily escaping, Brimmer tried to ask a passing vehicle for help, but it did not stop.
Although Suresh alleged that Brimmer grabbed a rock in self-defence, he “didn’t fight back”.
Suresh told Brimmer to “get his last words in” before chasing him down two blocks and ending up in a neighbour’s kitchen.
After catching Brimmer, Suresh reportedly stabbed him in the neck.
Despite this attack, Brimmer tried to crawl away, but Suresh slit his throat.
Suresh apparently told the police: “I just wanted to make sure it was done.”
After he was arrested, Suresh revealed that he had never intended to try to cover up his crime and that he would have informed the police himself if they had not arrived.
He allegedly added that he wanted to be arrested.
According to the court documents, Suresh declared: “I’m hoping that because [the victim is] a paedophile.
“Like, everyone hates paedophiles.”
“So like, it should be cool.”
The man also went on to say that he was “not sorry” for murdering the sex offender and “didn’t feel sad at all”, adding that the crime was “honestly really fun”.
In 2021, Varun Suresh was arrested for making a fake bomb threat, making criminal threats, and committing burglary.
The latter crime was discovered after he left a bag in Hyatt Place, where the Fremont police had killed a suspect in an unrelated incident.
Following his arrest in 2021, Suresh allegedly confessed his belief that the CEO of Hyatt Hotels “was a paedophile” and that he had been “hunting him for a while”.
