"I’m sad to say that she is gone."
Rakhi Sawant revealed that her mother passed away after a long battle with cancer.
Jaya Bheda passed away at a hospital in Mumbai where she had been undergoing treatment.
Rakhi had been updating fans about her mother’s health. She also requested fans to pray for her mother.
But unfortunately, she passed away on January 28, 2023.
The funeral took place the following day and the likes of Rashami Desai paid respects.
In a statement, Rakhi said: “With a deep sorrow, I Rakhi Sawant inform you the sudden death of my beloved mother.
“Many of you know that she was suffering with some medical conditions, and I’m sad to say that she is gone.
Deepak Namjoshi, a pulmonologist and director of CritiCare Asia Multispecialty Hospital and Research Centre, said:
“Rakhi Sawant’s mother had stage four endometrial cancer which had spread to the brain, lungs and liver.
“She was admitted around a fortnight ago. She was earlier treated at another hospital and later referred here.”
Rakhi had previously posted a video of herself sitting on the floor beside her mother in the hospital and wrote:
“Today my mother’s hand was lifted from my head. And I have nothing left to lose. I love you mother.
“Nothing is left without you, now who will listen to me and who will hug me. What should I do now, where should I go. I miss you, mother.”
A number of celebrities sent condolence messages.
Jackie Shroff said: “I feel your pain having lost my mom, dad, brother; their soul will always be with us.”
Nisha Rawal said: “My dear Rakhi my heart reaches out to you! I have seen aunty always dressed up beautifully with a smile, seeing her this way broke my heart!
“Shall be praying for her peaceful journey! May God give you strength.”
Rakhi’s brother Rakesh said:
“Everyone from the industry has been calling us and giving their condolences.
“Salman [Khan] bhai also called and spoke to Rakhi and all the people who helped mom and Rakhi have reached out to us.”
“Especially, Salman sir thanks to bhai my mother lived for three years more because he got her operated and took care of all the expenses. He got her back for us last time.”
On how Rakhi is coping, Rakesh said:
“Rakhi is out of control, she doesn’t know what to do because mom was everything for her.
“We never thought we will ever be without mom. We don’t know what to do next and we both are blank. Our mother used to handle the entire house.
“My mother was Rakhi’s backbone, now Rakhi is the head of the family and she has to look after us. It will take some time to fill in that place.”
