Radhika Apte surprised fans at the BFI London Film Festival by revealing she is pregnant.
The actress attended the screening of her film Sister Midnight on October 16, 2024.
On the red carpet, she debuted her baby bump.
At the BFI London Film Festival, Radhika wore a black, off-shoulder midi dress and matched with classic black heels.
Her hair was tied in a bun while Radhika’s makeup included dark red lipstick.
Although she displayed her baby bump, Radhika did not explicitly reveal her pregnancy as she captioned the post:
“SISTER MIDNIGHT UK Premier #lff2024.”
The unexpected pregnancy reveal elicited congratulatory messages from fans and fellow celebrities.
Mrunal Thakur wrote: “Congratulations Radhika.”
Indian TV actor Suvrat Joshi commented:
“Congratulations on everything that’s happening in these photos.”
One fan said: “Ah! Congrats on the premiere and your pregnancy! You are magnificent on the red carpet!”
Another posted: “Omg!!! She’s pregnant, how exciting.”
The pregnancy reveal led to fans turning their attention to Radhika Apte’s husband.
She has been married to British violinist and composer Benedict Taylor since 2012.
They met in 2011 in London where Radhika was learning contemporary dance during her sabbatical from films.
Radhika previously explained that their decision to marry was quite organic because they felt they could not live away from each other.
They had a small ceremony in 2012 and a large-scale wedding a year later.
Speaking about her intimate wedding, Radhika recalled:
“When I got married to Benedict 10 years ago, we forgot to click pictures. We had a DIY marriage.
“We called our friends, made food ourselves, had the wedding at a place in Northern England, and partied.
“But no pictures. Even though half of our friends were photographers, none of them either clicked any pictures. We were all so drunk.
“So I don’t have any pictures of my wedding. Which is nice in a different way.”
The couple now divides their time between London and Mumbai.
In addition to working in the British and European music scene, Benedict has also composed music for several Indian projects, including Udta Punjab.
Radhika’s film Sister Midnight centres on newlywed Uma who discovers feral impulses that land her in unlikely situations.
Directed by Karan Kandhari, the film premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
Radhika Apte last had a cameo in Merry Christmas, which starred Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi.
She is also set to star alongside Keerthy Suresh in the revenge thriller series Akka.
