They will reignite nostalgia while introducing fresh elements

After more than two decades, Bengali cinema’s beloved duo, Prosenjit Chatterjee and Chiranjeet Chakraborty, are finally reuniting in Bijoynagar er Hirey.

The actors were last seen together in Inquilaab which was released in 2002.

After 23 years, the two will collaborate once again in Bijoynagar er Hirey, the latest instalment in the Kakababu franchise.

Directed by Chandrasish Ray, the film marks a major moment for Tollywood.

The two stars were once among the industry’s most popular on-screen pairings.

Fans have eagerly awaited this reunion as Prosenjit and Chiranjeet have delivered several memorable performances together over the years.

Now, with Bijoynagar er Hirey, the duo is expected to bring their signature charm to an action-packed adventure.

They will reignite nostalgia while introducing fresh elements to the franchise.

The official announcement of their reunion was made at SVF and Hoichoi’s “Golper Parbon 1432” event.

While details about Chiranjeet’s character have not been revealed, reports suggest that he will play a significant role in the plot.

His absence from the film’s opening ceremony sparked curiosity among fans, but his involvement in the project has been confirmed.

Prosenjit’s portrayal of Kakababu has been widely appreciated since Mishawr Rohoshyo (2013), establishing him as the face of the franchise.

The success of Yeti Obhijaan (2017) and Kakababur Protyaborton (2022) further cemented his place in the role.

However, Bijoynagar er Hirey will introduce some notable changes.

One of the biggest shifts in the film is the recasting of Shontu, Kakababu’s nephew.

Arian Bhowmik, who played the role in previous instalments, will not be returning. Instead, Arghya Basu Ray has been cast as the new Shontu.

Another major change is the absence of Srijit Mukherji, the director responsible for reviving the Kakababu series.

Instead, Chandrasish Ray, who previously worked with Prosenjit in Nirontor, will take over directorial duties.

The shift in creative leadership and casting changes have raised questions about the direction of Bijoynagar er Hirey.

However, the return of Chiranjeet alongside Prosenjit has injected excitement into the project.

With production already underway, the film is expected to deliver a mix of nostalgia and fresh storytelling.

This has made it one of the most anticipated releases of the year.

For fans of Bengali cinema, this reunion is more than just another film—it is the revival of an era.

As Bijoynagar er Hirey takes shape, audiences eagerly await a glimpse of the magic that Prosenjit and Chiranjeet once brought to the big screen.
