Priyanka Chopra is rumoured to be venturing into the South Indian film industry by starring opposite Jr NTR.
After the massive success of RRR, Jr NTR is set to star in Prashanth Neel’s next project.
The KGF director’s film remains untitled, only codenamed NTR31.
Shortly after the film’s announcement, there was talk about who would play the female lead and rumours suggested that a big name had been cast.
Deepika Padukone and Mrunal Thakur were just two names going around.
But reports have stated that Priyanka will play the female lead.
The project is touted as a pan-India action film set against the India-Pakistan border. But the makers have not confirmed the plot or Priyanka’s casting.
The rumours of Priyanka’s casting led to a mixed response on social media.
Some were excited at the prospect of Priyanka starring opposite Jr NTR.
One user said: “Would be amazing.”
Another commented: “Very excited.”
However, others did not want to see Priyanka in an Indian film, with one commenting:
“Don’t need this aunty in India. Send her back to Hollywood.”
Another believed she would not take a film for less money than what she makes in Hollywood, writing:
“She cannot and will not take less paycheck than what she gets in Hollywood.
“If producers are willing, then it means they are planning a global theme and global release.”
NTR31 is still in the initial stages of production and no major details have been announced except for the first-look poster.
In addition to Priyanka, Aamir Khan is rumoured to be part of NTR31.
According to reports, the makers are considering the Lagaan actor to play the antagonist and go up against Jr NTR.
Meanwhile, there are talks that Priyanka Chopra will appear on Running Wild with Bear Grylls with the famed adventurer.
Bear said: “Priyanka is the number one (celebrity) for our next show along with Virat Kohli.
“Both of them are such inspirational figures, who are loved around the world.
“So, getting to hear their stories and getting to know their journey and their life would be such a privilege for me and everyone.”
On the acting front, Priyanka was last seen in the spy series Citadel and Love Again.
Meanwhile, Jr NTR will be next seen in Devara alongside Janhvi Kapoor.
