"My company was all about giving opportunities“

Priyanka Chopra is one of the most aspiring actresses in Bollywood and Hollywood.

The actress, who’s gearing up for the release of her upcoming Netflix release We Are The Heroes, is soaking in the marital bliss.

Priyanka celebrated her second wedding anniversary with husband, American singer Nick Jonas.

Recently, the actress along with her singer husband made an virtual appearance at a Leadership Summit.

More than being a bankable star, PCJ is also a proud owner of a production house, Purple Pebble Pictures which often produces regional films.

Speaking about the same at Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, Priyanka Chopra said:

“When I joined the film industry (and that goes for both, in America and in India), there is always an opportunity for the big guns, who have been established.

“It takes a really long time for writing, directing, production, acting talent to be able to get through the doors.

“My company was all about giving opportunities to smaller, more quaint stories and that’s how the regional cinema thing started.”

She further added:

“And also my mother told me that when I turn 30, at the ripe old age of 30, I might not have a career very soon.

“So I was like, ‘You’re right’. We started the company and today in both countries, multiple languages, across multiple mediums.

“My greatest joy with Purple Pebble is being able to create an all South-Asian cast, movies and TV shows in Hollywood.

“We haven’t seen that very often.

“It is really my quest to try and influx Hollywood with Indian talent, as much as I can.”

On the work front, after The Sky Is Pink, Priyanka Chopra has Netflix‘s The White Tiger opposite Rajkummar Rao in the pipeline.

In the five years since she started producing films, Priyanka has established itself as a ready financier for innovative projects across multiple regional languages.

The 2016 Marathi-language feature Ventilator won three National Awards.

Biographical drama The Sky is Pink, released in 2019, received almost universal praise.
