A California-based plastic surgeon took to TikTok to reveal a clever method you can use daily to slow down the ageing process.

A plastic surgeon explained how you can slow down the ageing process.

Dr Faryan Jalalabadi, who is based in California, is known for sharing various hacks and tips with his followers on TikTok.

In one video, he explained how spending approximately 20 minutes in the sauna daily can help slow down the natural ageing process and improve collagen production.

In the clip, Dr Jalalabadi says:

“The sauna slows down the ageing process of the skin.

“It improves collagen and elastic production. It detoxifies the skin through the sweating process.”

The plastic surgeon also pointed out that the sauna provides additional benefits for the heart and lungs.

He continued: “It improves the circulation of the blood flow to your skin. It releases little proteins that protect your DNA and your cells from aging by the shock of the heat.

“You only need 15 to 20 minutes.

“Every day that you do this, it is an anti-ageing practice. So, get in the sauna every day, if you can.”

However, Dr Jalalabadi warned not to overdo it.

He said spending 40 minutes in the sauna will actually speed up ageing.

It could also lead to exhaustion, dehydration, dizziness, nausea, headaches, or even heat stroke.”

Dr Jalalabadi added: “And if you have melasma, unfortunately, you have to avoid it because this will exacerbate your hyperpigmentation.”

TikTok users rushed to the comments to ask for further advice on the daily tip, with one person asking:

“What about heated yoga?”

The plastic surgeon said that is an alternative method.

Another user said: “I had melasma, laser treatments and special products removed it completely almost – I go to sauna once in a while and don’t plan to stop.”

Dr Jalalabadi advised:

“Try a cold towel on your face for extra protection in the sauna.”

One person wondered if long hot showers are a viable alternative to which Dr Jalalabadi objected to as they can remove the skin’s protective oils.

Other TikTok users made jokes about how they could achieve the same effect by going outside in hot weather.

One person joked: “Free outside sauna in Houston, Texas for 6 months.”

Another wrote: “I live in Texas. I don’t need a sauna. I need a cold plunge.”

A third added: “So living in Florida for 5 years was a good idea after all.”

Dr Jalalabadi frequently takes to TikTok to share his anti-ageing tips and some of his hacks include avoiding processed sugar and taking cold showers.
