Social media users are outraged after a Pakistani man was filmed brutally beating his mother over a property and financial dispute.
It was reported that he also hit his sister. The shocking incident took place in the city of Sadiqabad.
The video of the assault went viral and horrified viewers.
The altercation took place due to a money and property-related issue that culminated with the man hitting his own mother and sister while his wife did nothing but watch.
Police identified the accused as Arsalan while the victims were named Gulnaaz and Zoobia Meer.
Following the attack, Zoobia released a video statement explaining what had happened.
She said that her brother beat her mother after getting into an argument over property. Zoobia went on to say that Arsalan fled the scene with documents and valuables such as jewellery and cash.
Zoobia explained that following the attack, she made a police complaint, however, they allegedly refused to take action and did not file an FIR.
Despite her allegations of no police action, Rawalpindi Police have stated that an FIR has been registered against Arsalan and action is being taken.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.
In the FIR, Gulnaaz said that her son and daughter-in-law would “fight with me every other day”.
She said: “At 7 pm on [Tuesday] night, they pushed me, beat me and tortured me intensely.”
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the incident and directed to arrest the man as early as possible.
After seeing the shocking footage, social media users demanded justice and #ZoobiaMeer trended on Twitter.
One person wrote:
“Just saw the glimpse of that guy beating his mother and couldn’t take that video for more than a few seconds.”
“How can anyone do that is beyond my understanding but one thing is for sure and that’s this duniya and akhirat for that couple is over.”

However, the Pakistani man’s wife Bisma alleged that her husband only hit his mother after he saw that she was beating his wife.
Bisma said: “I cannot even tell you what my mother-in-law did to her son.”
She claimed that her mother-in-law had been “torturing” her for four years but she had never spoken about it to save her marriage.
“I had to necessarily show the other side of the picture when the case reached the media and police. My mother-in-law and her daughter even hid my daughter’s milk.
“I was tortured every day but remained silent. If the son lifted a hand on his mother, then there must have been reason to do so.
“My mother-in-law tortured [me] first, which is why the matter reached this point.”
She added that Zoobia had gone to the police but did not tell them the “truth”.
