"We request everyone to respect her privacy."
Bollywood actor Nushrratt Bharuccha has been brought back to Mumbai via air ambulance after suffering a spinal fracture during a trip to Bali.
The actress is expected to undergo spine surgery following the accident that occurred during what had been a work-cum-holiday trip.
A video of Nushrratt being taken out of an ambulance on a stretcher at a Mumbai hospital has since been widely circulated.
She was seen surrounded by her family members, including her mother, and close friends who were present to receive her upon her return.
Her publicist confirmed the spine surgery in an official statement, having earlier asked the public and media to respect the actress’s privacy.
The statement read: “At present, our immediate priority is her health and ensuring she receives the necessary medical care.
“We request everyone to respect her privacy at this time and allow her the space to focus on her treatment and recovery.
“We are grateful for everyone’s concern and good wishes and will share further updates as and when appropriate.”
She had been hospitalised in Bali before the decision was made to transport her back to Mumbai for further treatment.
Just a week before the accident, Nushrratt had shared a cheerful beach selfie from her Bali vacation, appearing happy and carefree.
She had captioned the photograph: “Holiday on my mind! Where do I head out to now?”
The accident has come at a particularly significant moment in her career.
There were reports already circulating that she is set to join the cast of Tiger Shroff’s next film.
The project would mark the first on-screen collaboration between the two actors, making it one of the more anticipated casting announcements.
A source close to the development revealed: “The team wanted someone who could bring both strength and emotional depth to the story.
“Nushrratt was always one of the strongest choices.”
“Her role has substance, and audiences will get to see her in an exciting new avatar.”
The film is also reportedly set to star Pashmina Roshan, Abhishek Banerjee and Elvish Yadav in key roles alongside the two leads.
The project will also mark the producing debut of Vicky Jain, who is launching his newly established banner VJ Frames with this production.
Fans and colleagues from the film industry have been sending messages of support and prayers for her swift and complete recovery following the shocking news.
The extent to which the spinal fracture and the subsequent surgery will impact Nushrratt Bharuccha’s professional timeline remains to be seen.
