Noor Jahan' Trailer receives Public Backlash f

“Looks like a rip-off of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii.”

The trailer for the upcoming ARY Digital drama Noor Jahan has been released, however, it has sparked controversy.

The show, produced by Six Sigma Plus Productions and directed by Musaddiq Malek, features a stellar cast.

It includes Noor Hassan, Kubra Khan, Hajra Yamin, Zoya Nasir, Saba Hamid and Ali Rehman Khan.

The newly-released trailer showcases a luxurious household and a close-knit family.

In some scenes, the family is shown wearing fancy clothes and lots of jewellery, looking very wealthy.

The women’s hair is styled in decorated buns, similar to those seen on Indian TV soap operas.

They wear big, flashy jewellery that catches the eye. The trailer has Kubra Khan’s sarcastic voiceover and interaction with her mother-in-law taking centre stage.

The family’s joyful atmosphere is suddenly disrupted when the mother-in-law notices Kubra sitting in her chair, her expression turning stern and disapproving.

She interrogates, her voice laced with condescension and authority:

“Why did you think you could sit in my place? Without my permission?”

The once-upbeat background music abruptly shifts to an ominous and foreboding tune, signalling a dramatic turn in the scene’s tone.

Since its release, the trailer has drawn intense criticism for its perceived similarity to the Indian drama series Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii.

One user wrote: “Looks like a rip-off of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii.”

Another added: “The set and family dynamics are straight out of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii.”

One said: “Can’t believe Pakistani drama makers are still obsessed with Saas Bahu content for ratings.”

Another commented: “This is just a Pakistani version of an average Indian serial, nothing original about it.”

Due to her previous work in dramas that delivered moral lessons, Kubra Khan’s fans have also expressed disappointment with her script choice.

One fan wrote: “Expected more from Kubra Khan, her previous dramas were so inspiring, but this looks like a typical Saas Bahu serial.”

Another stated: “Kubra Khan should have chosen a better script, this is not up to her standards.”

The backlash has been relentless, with many viewers expressing frustration with the lack of originality in Pakistani dramas.

A user questioned: “Why do we always have to copy our content from others? Can’t we come up with something new and unique?”

Another commented:

“The trailer looks so cliché, I’ve seen this story play out countless times before.”

One wrote: “Pakistani dramas need to step up their game and come up with fresh ideas, not just copy Indian dramas.”

The feedback on the trailer of Noor Jahan has been negative so far with users accusing ARY of imitating Indian drama serials.
