Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat has revealed that she does not need to act in Bollywood as she is content with working in Pakistan.

Mehwish Hayat is a renowned name in Pakistan as she is without a doubt one of the most accomplished actresses in the film industry.

Throughout her tremendous career, she has given some of the biggest hits in the Pakistani entertainment industry.

These include Jawani Phir Nahi Ani (2015), Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 (2018), Load Wedding (2018) Chhalawa (2019) and many more.

One of her greatest hits includes her film Punjab Nahi Jaungi (2017) which continues to be played in cinemas across the country more than a year after its release.

Helmed by Nadeem Baig, the romantic comedy film revolves around a love triangle and showcases the Punjabi culture of Pakistan.

Punjab Nahi Jaungi (2017) also stars Humayun Saeed and Urwa Hocane in lead roles.

For her amazing contribution to the industry, Mehwish has received the Tamgha E Imtiaz award.

Not only that. The actress is also a vocal spokesperson for Pakistan across the globe.

Having achieved many successes in her career, many may find it surprising that Mehwish has not ventured across the border.

This is not because she has not received work from Bollywood, rather the actress has not considered any of the roles offered to her.

According to a recent interaction on a chat show, Mehwish Hayat opened up about why she will never accept work from across the border. She said:

“I was already getting so much quality work in Pakistan that I didn’t feel the need. I received so much respect from my own county.”

Mehwish went on to state that self-respect is a major factor which is absent in Bollywood. She explained:

“For me, self-respect is very important.”

“When you work in Bollywood, there is no self-respect, you don’t get to attend premieres or even promote the film.”

Mehwish continued to mention that travelling to India is detrimental to life and no amount of wealth or fame is worth the hassle. She said:

“Even travelling is life-threatening there. So, where there is no self-respect regardless of more money or more fame, for me, it’s not worth the deal.”

On the work front, Mehwish Hayat will be seen in a BBC show produced by American actress Angelina Jolie.

In Pakistan, the actress will be shooting for a Nadeen Baig film alongside co-star Humayun Saeed.
