Ahmad had ruined her looks by breaking her nose.

Kesser Ahmad, aged 24, was jailed for two years and eight months for breaking his ex-partner’s nose and grabbing her mother’s arm and driving off.

James Holding, prosecuting, said Ahmad had arranged to meet his former partner outside her mother’s home in Bradford on July 22, 2022.

They were sitting in his Renault Clio when they argued and Ahmad lost his temper and attacked her.

Her screams alerted her mother, who went out in her pyjamas to help her daughter whose face was covered in blood.

When she leant into the car, Ahmad grabbed her arm and drove off.

Mr Holding told Bradford Crown Court that Ahmad initially went steadily but then increased his speed. She was forced to run alongside the car until she freed herself with “a burst of strength”.

Ahmad then disappeared with his ex-partner in his car.

He drove erratically before pulling up on another street where his victim’s screams alerted residents.

The woman sustained a broken nose while her mother suffered serious bruising and swelling, including a painful lump on her arm for months.

Ahmad denied the assaults, claiming his ex-partner broke her own nose on the car dashboard and he drove off in self-defence when her mother refused to let go.

His former partner said she was struggling with stress, anxiety and depression.

Ahmad had ruined her looks by breaking her nose. He had made her feel worthless and she could no longer trust anyone.

She felt isolated and was no longer the happy bubbly person she used to be.

Her mother said she saw the car wheels turning beneath her and thought she would be dragged under the vehicle and killed. She added that it had been absolutely terrifying and it had broken her heart to see her daughter’s injuries.

Ahmad was found guilty of two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance.

The court heard he had previous convictions for driving offences.

Ahmad’s barrister John Batchelor said his client wanted to move on with his life and apologised for the upset and anxiety he had caused.

Recorder Catherine Silverton said Ahmad had punched his former partner repeatedly in the face, breaking her nose.

She said:

“You knew she was being dragged along by that car and you put your foot on the accelerator.”

Ahmad was jailed for two years and eight months. He was also banned from driving for 26 months.

He received a five-year restraining order, banning him from having any contact with the women or going to any address where they live.
