"There’s rich and then there’s Ambani rich."
Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding cruise stopped at Cannes, where they were treated to a performance by Katy Perry.
The couple’s luxury cruise set off from Italy and has made its way to the south of France.
Approximately 800 guests have been invited, including Ranbir Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan.
The cruise stopped at Cannes and guests enjoyed a party at a £40 million estate.
Headlining the event was Katy Perry, who belted out some of her best hits.
The American popstar wore a silver gown with a long train.
Footage on social media showed Katy performing her 2010 track ‘Firework’ and encouraging guests to sing along.
The song was a fitting choice given that the event ended with a massive fireworks display.
On social media, netizens were stunned to see the A-lister performing at the Ambani event, with many pointing out that this was just for the pre-wedding festivities.
Wondering who will perform at the wedding, one said:
“There’s rich and then there’s Ambani rich.
“Holy c**p, how crazy is it to invite Rihanna and Katy Perry for pre-wedding events.
“Who are they gonna invite for the actual wedding?”
Another joked: “Rumour has it that they’re gonna raise Elvis from the grave and make him perform.”
Speaking about Katy Perry’s performance, a source previously told The Sun:
“They have invited 800 guests who are currently on a space-themed cruise around Europe, with stops in Barcelona and Genoa.
“It will arrive in Cannes on Friday for the big bash, which will be at a £40million estate.
“The party itself will only last five hours but Katy will headline it, with a DJ also being flown in as part of the top-tier entertainment.
“Afterwards, guests will watch a huge fireworks display from a small armada of ships waiting in the Bay of Cannes.
“When they say there’s been no expense spared, they really mean it.”
No expense has been spared for the event and it is rumoured that Katy Perry was paid millions for her performance.
This follows Rihanna, who was reportedly paid £5 million to perform at the first pre-wedding event in Jamnagar.
The lavish cruise also saw the Backstreet Boys perform during a party.
Guru Randhawa was another artist at the event and Ranveer Singh joined him onstage.
As the cruise comes to an end on June 1, the attention will then turn to the wedding in July, which is expected to be a massive celebration.
