"Being in your 40s is just the best part."

Kareena Kapoor Khan has divulged into the importance of embracing one’s age in Bollywood – an industry where looks seem to be as magnified as acting skills.

Kareena has been a firm fixture of the industry for over 20 years.

Since her debut in Refugee (2000), the actress has been entertaining and inspiring millions.

In the realm of Indian cinema, few actresses carry themselves with as much grace and elegance as Kareena.

Currently in her 40s, Kareena is still very much one of the industry’s leading actresses, despite many younger faces appearing on the screen.

Kareena opened up about the secret to her longevity and talked about accepting her age wholeheartedly.

She also described how she kept her social media posts unfiltered:

“There’s no conscious thought to it. I know the industry, everyone wants to always look a certain way.

“Everyone wants to actually just remain young. That’s the main thing.

“I’ve been one person who’s never really been afraid of embracing my age.

“I turn 43 on September 21, and I’m actually having the time of my life. I’m like, ‘I love it.’

“I don’t want to ever go back to my ’20s or think that I was such a mess then.

“What I was doing or I was like a little overconfident. I was a little immature and I took some childish decisions.

“That was all, of course, part of life and growing up.

“So I think in this kind of an industry, I think it’s important to just embrace yourself at whatever age and not try to run behind filters or whatever.

“Because when people see you and know you, like how I’m having this public chat,

“I’m not going to be airbrushed or with filters all around me.

“Of course, I’ll be glamorously dressed because that is something I just like doing. But I won’t be behind the filters. So I’m not that. I just don’t like it.

“I’m like, ‘it’s fine whatever shape, size. I mean I’m just this. This is it. I’ve been there, done that.’ And now it’s just the way I am.”

Kareena also explained her excitement about being in her 40s:

“I think being in your ’40s is just the best part. You know, we women have just got started in some way. I just feel that like personally also, I think I feel a lot more obviously relaxed.

“After having my children, I think I’m having a lot more fun.”

The Jab We Met (2007) star further asserted that she does not care about the 10-year age gap she shares with her husband Saif Ali Khan:

“I am happy I am 10 years younger, he should be worried. No one would say he has turned 53.”

“Age does not matter, what matters is respect and love and the fact that we have fun with each other.”

Kareena also detailed about her father Randhir Kapoor adapted himself to the times and allowed her and her sister Karisma Kapoor to pursue acting.

Such modernity and dignity deserve applause. It is no wonder that Kareena has survived so long in a largely patriarchal industry where marriage and kids usually spell the end for leading ladies.

On the work front, Kareena Kapoor Khan was last seen in Laal Singh Chaddha (2022).

She will star in Jaane Jaan for Netflix, which marks her entry into online streaming.
