"I deserve this horrible thing that has happened"

Janhvi Kapoor spoke about how she dealt with the loss of her mother Sridevi and the “weird” sense of relief she experienced after her death.

The 26-year-old explained: “When I lost mom, of course, there was this huge tragedy, there was a hole in my heart.

“But there was this horrible feeling of ‘something bad has happened’ to justify all the great things in my life and all the privilege and the things that I got easily which I heard my entire life.

“I thought ‘Ok now something bad has happened. I deserve this. I deserve this horrible thing that has happened to me. It was a weird sense of relief’.”

On how she copes with Sridevi’s death, Janhvi revealed that being in front of the camera is the closest she will ever feel to her.

This is because Sridevi used to tell Janhvi to give her best shot in her debut film.

She revealed that the last conversation she had with her mother was about her debut film Dhadak.

Janhvi explained that after her death, she spent most of her time at work because everything else had become a blur.

While recalling that Sridevi used to call her ‘laddoo’, Janhvi elaborated:

“I don’t think I remember anything. That entire month was a blur for me and a long time after that was also a blur.”

On the work front, Janhvi Kapoor was last seen in Good Luck Jerry and Mili.

She will next be seen in Mr and Mrs Mahi opposite Rajkummar Rao.

Janhvi has turned 26 and to mark the occasion, she announced that she will be making her Telugu debut opposite RRR star Jr NTR.

Sharing the first look of her character in the untitled film, Janhvi wrote:

“It is finally happening. Can’t wait to set sail with my favourite Jr NTR.”

Jr NTR welcomed Janhvi onto the film while also wishing her happy birthday, writing:

“Welcome on board Janhvi. Wishing you a very happy birthday. Have a great one.”

The confirmation comes after much speculation prompted a source to say:

“It is true that Janhvi has been signed.

“The makers did have a few options in mind but they eventually went ahead with Janhvi.

“In a couple of weeks, the team is planning to do a photoshoot with the lead pair.

“The project will go on the floors next month.

“Apart from Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, a big star-cast will come on board the film from across industries making it a proper Pan India affair.”
