an interesting new take on the villain.
Jameela Jamil has been cast in a major role in Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series She-Hulk.
It is reported that Jameela will play Titania, a Marvel supervillain with incredible strength and a rival of She-Hulk.
The series is set to be a legal comedy that is centred on lawyer Jennifer Walters, played by Tatiana Maslany, the cousin of Bruce Banner.
She inherits his Hulk powers after she receives a blood transfusion from him.
However, unlike Bruce, when she turns green, Jennifer is able to retain most of her personality, intelligence and emotional control.
Jameela Jamil joins previously announced cast members Renée Elise Goldsberry, Ginger Gonzaga, and Tim Roth.
Mark Ruffalo reprises his role as Bruce Banner.
Jameela is best known for her role in the critically-acclaimed comedy The Good Place.
Titania’s character description and comic backstory present interesting similarities to Jameela’s Good Place character.
In the comics, Mary McPherran, who would later become Titania, was born prematurely and became a small, timid teenager living in Denver, Colorado.
Bullied relentlessly in school, Mary became captivated with superheroes and imagined herself gaining powers.
During the Secret Wars, Mary and her friend, Marsha Rosenberg, were found by Doctor Doom.
He offered the pair powers in exchange for their help and the two quickly agreed.
Marsha would go on to become Volcana while Mary gained superhuman strength, stamina and durability, taking the name Titania.
In the upcoming series, Titania is a social media influencer with a dark side.
This aspect looks to be an interesting new take on the villain.
It will be interesting to see how close the series stays to Titania’s comic book origins or if it takes an entirely new approach to the character.
