A trio in India is accused of torturing, murdering and later consuming parts of two victims in their 50s.
Police said they killed the two women to satisfy their own sexual cravings.
The horrific incident happened in Kerala.
Police have identified the main accused as Muhammad Shafi, who had been out on bail for sexually assaulting a 75-year-old woman.
Kochi Police Commissioner CH Nagaraju said Shafi is a history-sheeter and is involved in a dozen cases registered against him in the past 15 years.
He said: “Shafi has studied only up to Class 6 and did all menial jobs right from a driver to a mechanic to the one who runs a hotel.
“A rape case has been registered against him in the past when he raped a 75-year-old woman and also used a knife to make wounds in the private parts.
“We have found out that the same places were injured in the two women who were murdered apparently as a human sacrifice.”
The other two accused are Bhagaval Singh and his wife Laila Singh.
The trio stand accused of the human sacrifice, torture, murder, dismemberment and partial consumption of the two victims.

The victims were identified only as Padma and Rosly.
It was reported that Padma’s sister raised the alarm after she told police that her sister had last been seen in Shafi’s car on September 26, 2022.
Shafi is believed to have been the couple’s witch doctor.
Reportedly, he had a sexual relationship with Laila, frequently having sex with her in front of her husband and claiming it was part of a ritual.
Shafi is accused of killing Padma while Laila allegedly beheaded Rosly in June 2022.
After Rosly’s death, her husband cut off her breasts to consume.
Shafi had lured the two victims to the couple’s house after promising them better-paying work. There the trio took pleasure in torturing and killing the women.
Shafi made the couple cook and eat parts of the murdered women, claiming it would give them financial prosperity.
The Commissioner said: “It has now been proved that he (Shafi) is a psychopath and a sexual pervert, and the one who derives sexual pleasure and will go to any extent even to kill for it.
“He has been using a fake Facebook account and it says that if anyone has financial problems to contact him.”
“That’s how he befriended Singh and it took three years for him to win their confidence and trap them and the crime took place.”
The victims’ remains were hidden in a pit in the garden of the Singh’s home.
Commissioner Nagaraju added: “The murders were brutal, the women were killed within 24 hours after missing.
“The manner of killing is indescribable.”
The three accused were arrested on October 11, 2022. The investigation is ongoing, with more scientific examination required.
