Upon seeing the police, the dancers fled via a back exit.
A police raid at a property in Balapur, Hyderabad, led to the arrest of a contractor who allegedly organised a ‘mujra party’ featuring transgender dancers.
Viral footage showed the dancers on an outdoor stage performing suggestive routines.
One dancer, who was dressed in a low-cut ensemble, was seen sitting on a man’s lap at times and planted a kiss on his cheek.
Another man even placed some money between the dancer’s cleavage.
Other dancers invited some of the men to join in.
The party took place at Mohammed Amir’s home and over 70 people attended prior to it being raided.
According to police, performers were seen dancing to the song ‘Doodh Ban Jaungi Malai Ban Jaungi’ from the 1995 film Sarhad: The Border of Crime.
The alleged mujra party was held as part of Mohammed’s eldest son’s engagement party.
A Balapur police team, acting on a tip-off from concerned locals, turned up at Mohammed’s home at around 1:40 am.
Upon seeing the police, the dancers fled via a back exit.
Police were able to seize the sound system and other equipment that was used for the event.
Mohammed Amir was taken into custody for questioning.
Police filed a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 296 (public nuisance), Section 270 (negligent act likely to spread infection), and Section 292 (obscene acts and songs).
An FIR was filed against Mohammed and an investigation is underway to identify the individual responsible for sourcing the dancers for such private events.
Police confirmed that efforts are being made to track down the organiser of the mujra performances.
The organiser is believed to supply transgender dancers to clients for similar private parties.

The incident has sparked public concern over the rising number of such private functions, and the police have vowed to intensify surveillance and action to curb such illegal activities.
The police raid comes just over a month after a medical conference in Chennai went viral for a “vulgar” dance performance.
Clips of the performance show a woman dancing in a crowded room of men, believed to be medical professionals.
The woman, who was dressed in a pink bralette and matching shorts, was seen inviting male attendees to join in.
A few men joined in on the dancefloor as they held drinks.
It is believed that the performance took place at the Association of Colon and Rectal Surgeons of India as a banner was displayed ‘ACRSICON 2024’.
