"We will never forget, and will not rest until he is located, captured and brought to justice."
The American crime agency FBI has placed an Indian man on their “Most Wanted List” for murder.
The 26-year-old man, identified as Bhadreshkumar Chetanbhai Patel, went missing for two years after the supposed murder of his wife in 2015.
The FBI placed him on the list on 18th April 2017. They have charged him with first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault and a count of a dangerous weapon with intent to injure.
They are offering $100,000 (approx. £78,000) for anyone who can provide information on Patel’s whereabouts.
Reports say that the Indian man killed his wife, Palak Patel, by stabbing her multiple times. The murder took place on 12th April 2015, at a Dunkin Donuts kitchen in Maryland, USA. Police say the couple had been working a night shift, although the motive remains unknown.
However, the FBI have theorised that Palak Patel expressed keen interest in returning to India. But Bhadreshkumar Chetanbhai Patel did not carry the same wishes.
Gordon B. Johnson, FBI special agent from Baltimore office, confirmed the FBI had placed the man on the “Most Wanted List”. He said:
“The extremely violent nature of the crimes allegedly committed by Bhadreshkumar Patel earned him a place on the FBI’s Top Ten list.”
“The valuable assistance of the public cannot be overstated, as shown by the ongoing success locating fugitives placed on the Top 10 list. The ongoing efforts of our investigators, coupled with the public’s assistance, will lead to the capture of Bhadreshkumar Patel.
“We will never forget, and will not rest until he is located, captured and brought to justice.”
The last sighting of the Indian man took place at a hotel in Jersey on 13th April 2015. The FBI believe he could have left the country illegally, as his visa expired a month before the alleged murder.
They now suspect that, the man on the “Most Wanted List” could have fled to Canada or India. Or he may even have found help from US relatives to go into hiding.
But now, with the latest development of this case, the FBI hope they will receive new information to aid them in capturing Patel.
