Three Indian kidnappers have been arrested after they killed the young boy who they had abducted.

The 10-year-old victim had been kidnapped in exchange for a ransom but when his father failed to pay the money, the perpetrators murdered him.

The incident happened in the city of Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh.

On the afternoon of Saturday, March 21, 2020, the victim’s body was found in a forested area. The body was lying in a pond.

Police discovered the body after one of the kidnappers led them to it.

The victim was identified as Yuvraj, the son of a village development officer named Surjeet Golay.

According to officers, Yuvraj was abducted on March 19, 2020, when he was outside his house playing with the other children in the area.

Sambhal Sadar Police Station SHO Amit Kumar explained that the boy was abducted a man named Rajeev, who lived nearby and was a known gangster.

He said: “Yuvraj was kidnapped for ransom allegedly by his neighbour Rajeev, a history-sheeter. He was helped by his sister Dolly.

“They demanded Rs. 8 Lakh (£9,000) as ransom from the boy’s father.”

Another man named Neeraj was also involved in the abduction.

Surjeet filed a complaint, explaining that his son had been playing outside when he was taken. Based on the complaint, police launched an investigation and managed to track down the Indian kidnappers.

Police arrested the three suspects and took them into custody for questioning where they admitted kidnapping the young boy.

They had committed the crime in exchange for a large sum of money, however, when Surjeet failed to pay it, they killed his son and dumped the body in the forested area.

SHO Kumar explained: “With the help of the surveillance team, police tracked Rajeev, a local gangster, his aide Neeraj from Chimaya Wala Tiraha locality and Dolly.

“During interrogation, they revealed that after kidnapping the boy, they took him to Bilaspur in Rampur.

“They called Golay and again demanded the ransom after he failed to deliver Rs. 8 Lakh.

“Therefore, they took the boy to the forest and strangled him and dumped his body there.”

The three suspects remain in custody while the investigation continues.

The Times of India reported that Rajeev had previously served a prison sentence.

Police officers revealed that a local court had sentenced Rajeev to 10 years in prison in 2007 for attempted murder and robbery.
