Two customers then decided to take their anger out on staff members

A fight erupted at a mobile phone store in New Delhi after some customers could not get their hands on the new iPhone 15.

Apple’s new smartphone was released on September 22, 2023, and unlike previous devices, the iPhone 15 was launched in India simultaneously.

This triggered a frenzy among customers, with some waiting hours to get their hands on the new phone.

However, customers were told that there were supply delays at a store in Delhi’s Kamla Nagar area.

Two customers then decided to take their anger out on staff members and assaulted them.

Footage showed two men beating up two employees inside the showroom.

The men, identified as Jaskirat Singh and Mandeep Singh, have since been arrested.

Police said the staff members had promised the men that the iPhone 15 would be in stock on the first day they went on sale.

An official said: “The men got angry when the staff members told them that arranging the phones had not been possible.”

Over 10 staff members intervened in an attempt to protect their colleagues.

However, they could not prevent their co-workers from the violent attack.

At one point, the suspects are seen aggressively confronting one staff member.

The video shows them raining blows on him and even tearing his top while he tries to protect his head and another employee attempts to pull him away.

Apple is looking to increase its market in India, where Android is king.

The first flagship store opened in Mumbai in April 2023 while another opened in New Delhi.

In a statement, Apple CEO Tim Cook said:

“India has such a beautiful culture and an incredible energy, and we’re excited to build on our long-standing history.”

The iPhone 15 launch in India reportedly saw people flying to Mumbai from other parts of the country in a bid to become among the first to get their hands on the new device.

One customer said: “I have been here since 3 pm on Thursday. I waited in the queue for 17 hours to get the first iPhone at India’s first Apple store. I have come from Ahmedabad.”

Another from Bengaluru revealed:

“I am happy I am getting my new iPhone 15 Pro. I am very excited.”

A third said: “I flew in on Thursday. I was here at the store at 5 or 6 o’clock. I was at the store opening a few months ago where I was fortunate enough to meet Tim Cook for the second time.”
