Indian TV actress Divya Bhatnagar passed away from Covid-19 complications on December 7, 2020.
Since her death, a lot has come forward about her troubled marriage.
The late actresses family has accused Divya’s husband Gagan Sethi of sustained and horrendous domestic violence against the deceased.
Divya Bhatnagar, the Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hain actress married Gagan Sethi in December 2019.
She had gone against the wishes of her family members and friends to do so, who suspected that Gagan married her to build connections in the entertainment industry.
Following her demise, her family, friends and colleagues came forward to attest instances of domestic violence against the deceased.
The first to come forward was Divya’s friend Indian TV actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee.
She came forward on December 8, 2020, with allegations of mental and physical abuse against Divya by her husband Gagan.
Devoleena posted an emotional video on her Instagram account revealing some shocking details about Divya Bhatnagar’s married life.

In the video, a teary-eyed Devoleena Bhattacharjee started with fondly speaking about her bond with Divya.
She said that Divya was like family to her and how their equation changed with time.
She said: “I am making this video for Divya Bhatnagar.
“She had just started living her life independently where she would not fall in anyone’s trap.
“I think God himself could not watch her sufferings.”
After that, she accused Divya’s husband Gagan of torturing and abusing the late actress.
Devoleena went on to say that Gagan used to beat up Divya often and even stole some jewellery from her.
He was toxic and physically and mentally tortured Divya.
She went on to claim many instances of abuse that the late actress had to endure in her marriage.
As proof of their claims, Divya Bhatnagar’s brother Devashish, took to Instagram on December 11, 2020, to post screenshots of his chats with her.

In the caption, Devashish attests:
“I want this guy hanged @whogabru.
“This is guy is been threatening Divya Bhatnagar that he will get me (her brother and mother killed)
“Defame her, screw her life if she would share anything with anyone.”
In the WhatsApp conversation of Devashish and Divya, the actress admits that she is regularly attacked with a belt.
She alleges that her finger has been broken multiple times.
She claimed that she tells herself that it was probably because he was frustrated with an ongoing case.
Previously, Devashish has claimed in an interview:
“Gagan started torturing Divya physically and mentally soon after their marriage.
“She had written a note on November 7, in which she had stated that Gagan tortures and abuses her.
“We found the note in her cupboard yesterday.
“She had also approached the police and filed an NC on November 16 against him, following an episode of domestic abuse.
“I had told her to stay strong when I got to talk to her during her hospitalisation.”
A day after Devashish shared the WhatsApp conversations he has had with his sister alleging the abuse she faced, Devoleena came forward with more irrefutable proof.
The actress took to Instagram to share an audio message of Divya Bhatnagar speaking on the abuse she faces on a day to day basis.

Divya’s brother Devashish has shared that he attempted to file an FIR (First Incident Report) against Gagan.
However, the Indian police have claimed that Divya Bhatnagar died due to Covid-19, and there is insufficient evidence for a police case.
Following which, Indian television celebrities have posted videos supporting Divya, and asking for Mumbai police’s intervention in the case.
Indian TV actress Kamya Panjabi came forward with a tweet praising Devoleena for fighting to ensure her friends gets justice, writing:

Divya’s co-star in Indian TV show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hain Nidhi Uttam has also come forward with allegations against the actresses husband.

Nidhi alleged that Gagan did not like Divya Bhatnagar being in touch with her real friends and well-wishers.
He attempted to isolate her, not allowing her to speak to people he disapproved of.
Nidhi Uttam revealed that Divya stayed quiet because she wanted to prove that she chose the right man.
She added that Divya was very naive and would easily trust anybody easily which is where she went wrong.
