"People keep telling me how could I say no"

Imran Abbas had a brief stint in Bollywood and he has now opened up about the Hindi blockbusters he had turned down.

During an interview with Nida Yasir on her show Shan-e-Suhoor, the Pakistani actor revealed he said no to the likes of Rajkumar Hirani, Mahesh Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

He explained that he rejected Aashiqui 2 and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela.

Starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, Aashiqui 2 was critically acclaimed, with praise for the performances and the music.

As for Ram-Leela, the film won three Filmfare Awards and two IIFA Awards.

Imran Abbas elaborated: “When I look back at my career, I rejected a film like Aashiqui 2.

“People keep telling me how could I say no to Aashiqui 2 and Ram-Leela. I was also offered Sarfaraz’s character in Rajkumar Hirani’s PK.”

Imran went on to say that he was offered a role in Bhansali’s upcoming Netflix series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar.

He continued: “Although I didn’t say no to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi, it got shelved.

“Aditya Roy Kapur’s role in Guzaarish was first offered to me as well.

“Now everybody claims that they were offered Aashiqui 2.

“But you can confirm with Mahesh Bhatt and Mohit Suri that the only official offer came to me.

“But people keep telling me how could I let go these films as my other movies weren’t as successful.

“Please don’t try to discourage me because I won’t be affected.”

Imran Abbas made his Bollywood debut in Creature 3D, starring alongside Bipasha Basu.

Focusing on a hotel that is haunted by a creature, the film was a box office film.

He also featured in Karan Johar’s 2016 film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

Imran Abbas recently attracted attention when he claimed a production house failed to pay his fees for a project.

He shared a cryptic post that read:

“The people who are on Umrah, posting pictures of Kabah and have not paid other people’s dues, do you think their Umrah would be accepted?”

Although he refrained from naming anyone, fans speculated about the identity of those hinted at in Imran’s post.

Many claimed that he was referring to a prominent producer who was currently on an Umrah trip with his family.

Coincidentally, the producer had also shared updates from Madinah around the same time as Imran’s post.

The producer in question was Abdullah Kadwani.
