"I don’t understand these celebrities"

On the festive evening of Christmas Eve, Pakistani actress Hania Aamir joined the holiday spirit by sharing an Instagram reel.

However, the response from netizens was far from positive. The unexpected video left them enraged and disappointed.

In the reel, Hania Aamir radiantly posed before her mirror, playfully toying with her beautiful bead necklace.

She adorned herself in an elegant, strapless red outfit, accentuated by a glossy makeup look that enhanced her natural charm.

Hania Aamir captioned the video with the Christmas tree emoji, adding a touch of holiday cheer to her post. However, her choice of attire did not go unnoticed by her observant fans.

They quickly recognised it as being from Zara, a brand that has faced allegations of insensitivity towards the plight of Palestinians.

Zara’s controversial December campaign, featuring distressing visuals of rubble, torn plaster, and cloth-draped mannequins reminiscent of corpses, sparked widespread criticism.

It was later removed due to the boycott as the series of images provoked a strong backlash from various parts of the world.

It is worth noting that Hania has consistently voiced her opposition to the Israeli occupation of Gaza. Her stance is evident even in her pinned social media post which proudly showcases the Palestinian flag.

Her caption accompanying the flag reads: “Not War. Genocide. Call it what it is”, emphasising her firm belief in raising awareness about the situation in Palestine.

Given this context, netizens were quick to label Hania Aamir as a hypocrite.

They questioned her decision to wear a brand associated with controversy while simultaneously advocating for Palestine.

The apparent contradiction between her actions and her professed support for the Palestinian cause led to disappointment and accusations from her online followers.

One commenter wrote: “I don’t understand these celebrities. How come you are pro-Palestine when you are buying stuff from Zara in these times?”

Another one commented: “Boycott Zara!!! Even non-Muslims are doing it. why can’t you???”

One said:

“Dual face of these so-called Palestine supporters and their hypocritical behaviour, just to get likes!”

Besides wearing the pro-Israel brand, netizens also had a problem with Hania Aamir celebrating the holiday amidst the ongoing genocide.

They deemed it extremely inappropriate to the situation in Gaza.

One said: “What a Shame. Our Muslim brothers and sisters are being killed in Palestine and people like you are busy in the celebration of Christmas”

Another read: “Loads of Christians are not celebrating Christmas due to the birthplace of Jesus being bombed. Yet you, a Muslim, are celebrating it. Why?”

Some outraged netizens even went as far as to wish suffering upon her.

One said: “May Allah make you and all genocide supporters suffer in every life.”

Whether Hania would respond to the hate on her video yet remains to be seen. Her followers have now begun questioning if Hania was pro-Palestine to begin with.
